В процессе работы над новой системой поиска рейдов, которая должна появиться в патче 4.3 к MMORPG World of Warcraft, компания Blizzard Entertainment сталкивается с «ранее не встречавшимися техническими сложностями и препятствиями», [hide]сообщает[/hide] официальный сайт игры. В связи с этим разработчики рассказали о том, чего хотят добиться при помощи системы и как она будет устроена.

«Поиск рейдов – это совершенно новая функция поиска группы, которая работает подобно системе поиска подземелий, — говорится в сообщении. — Однако в отличие от поиска группы в подземелье на 5 игроков, система поиска рейдов служит для сбора рейдовой группы в специально разработанную версию рейда «Душа Дракона», представленного в обновлении 4.3. Эта система не предназначена для замещения «классических» рейдов. Чтобы справиться со сложнейшими рейдовыми боссами патча 4.3, вам по-прежнему потребуется помощь друзей и членов гильдии».

На сайте BlizzCon было опубликовано 2 500 фотографий из истории этой выставки, [hide]сообщает[/hide] компания Blizzard Entertainment. Просмотрев их все, можно оценить историю этого мероприятия – с 2005-го года до «невероятного по масштабам прошлогоднего». В галерею добавлены фото с [hide]конкурсов костюмов[/hide], стендов разработчиков, [hide]обои с концепт-артом[/hide] и т.п. «Скачивайте на здоровье!» — предлагает Blizzard.

В патче 4.3 к MMORPG World of Warcraft: Cataclysm от компании Blizzard Entertainment многие эффекты заклинаний будут визуально переработаны. В сети появилось видео, демонстрирующее новых анимаций способностей друида, шамана и чернокнижника: «Гнев», «Молния» и «Стрела Тьмы», соответственно. В то же время ожидающие нового эффекта для «Божественного покровительства» жрецы разочарованы – в этом тестовом билде он не появился.

I used to farm Attumen in Karazhan every week for the [hide]Fiery Warhorse[/hide] mount. I used to farm Anzu in Sethekk Halls every day for the [hide]Raven Lord[/hide] mount. I used to farm the quest in Brunnhildar Village every day for the [hide]White Polar Bear[/hide] mount. I used to farm a lot of things …

One of my longest-running farming attempts was for the elusive [hide]Time-Lost Proto-Drake[/hide]. I would fly around The Storm Peaks for hours while working on homework, watching shows on Netflix Instant, waiting for random heroic queues, etc. After a few months of diligent hunting, my determination to find, kill, and loot the reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake was incited all the more when a friend just happened to fly past the dragon on his way from Ulduar to Dalaran.

At first, I was upset that the mount I sought so dearly had fallen haphazardly into his hands. Soon, though, I realized that if someone could get the mount by sheer dumb luck, it would be much more likely that I find it through persistence. After I spent several more months farming, however, this same friend just happened to see the shadow of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake flash by while he was questing in The Storm Peaks on the new Worgen mage he created when Cataclysm dropped. When I saw him flying around on his second TLPD mount, that was the last straw for me. I gave up the hunt.

What items, mounts or achievements bring out the farmer in you? How long have you been farming for that seemingly unobtainable something?

It’s been a while since we’ve had a re-run of [hide]Alexstrasza[/hide]. As we all get geared up to mount Deathwing and ride him into the ground, it’s time we take a moment and look back at the history of the red lady.

This video has always been a favorite of mine. Granted, the original song was created by Lady Gaga. I acknowledge that this fact alone disqualifies this song for play in many parts of the country, but not here. The tune is catchy, the lyrics were interpreted well into WoW, and the performance was dead on.

When patch 4.3 comes around, this will be my soundtrack as we get ready to throw down with the black dragon of mayhem.

[hide]Lightning Bolt[/hide], [hide]Shadow Bolt[/hide], and [hide]Wrath[/hide], three staple spells for the shaman, warlock, and druid classes respectively, all have new animations on the Public Test Realm. You can check out the new spell animations in the video above. Lighting Bolt’s effect now leaves a blue trail and has more oomph than just the small blue ball that was fired from the shaman beforehand. Shadow Bolt’s skull-headed projectile now leaves a greenish wake. Wrath looks completely different, eschewing the green lightning bolt effect for a more nature-based zap.

[Edit]: Video was re-shot for some better angles/views of the spells. Sorry about that, guys and gals.

I love getting random submissions for World of WarCrafts, but sometimes I get a backlog of interesting and fun links to check out. Today I’m going to clear out some of the backlog and share a few of the submissions I’ve gotten over the past several months, like the adorable and fearsome Magmaw hand puppet shown above. Created by Glow over at Glow’s Branches, Magmaw isn’t just incredibly cute, he’s also incredibly easy to make. Glow posted a [hide]how-to guide[/hide] on creating your very own Magmaw for instructional raid purposes. Or just because he’s charming, of course.

Forum poster Ardhavara has [hide]posted an excellent guide[/hide] to the color-blind accessibility mode for World of Warcraft, complete with images of the various ways it helps different kinds of color blindness. The console settings for each type are listed, and there’s a good explanation in the thread by [hide]poster Kaels[/hide] explaining each type and how these options help to make the game more distinct for each.

Not a lot of games, MMO or otherwise, work this hard to make accessibility improvements for conditions like color blindness. It’s nice to see WoW implementing something like this.

New around here? [hide]WoW Rookie[/hide] has your back! Get all our collected tips, tricks and tactics for new players in the [hide]WoW Rookie Guide[/hide]. WoW Rookie is about more than just being new to the game; it’s about checking out new classes, new playstyles, and new zones.

All the news in the last week has been about patch 4.3. Understandably, we’ve all been going through a lot of excitement. Heck, we’re even going to fight [hide]Deathwing soon[/hide]. Amidst all the hubbub, though, casual and rookie players must be asking, «What’s in this patch for me?»

Huge content patches don’t always mean anything new for rookies and casuals, since new raid tiers are often so busy with new 10-man and 25-man bosses that non-raiders can be forgotten. This is not the case in patch 4.3; for that matter, 4.3 might be the most exciting patch for casual players in a long time. Let’s count the ways in which patch 4.3 will be awesome for the rest of us.
