All the World’s a Stage: Plot points for night elf roleplayers

All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. In World of Warcraft, that player is you! Each week, [hide]Anne Stickney[/hide] brings you [hide]All the World’s a Stage[/hide] with helpful hints, tips and tricks on the art of roleplay in WoW. Have questions about roleplaying, or roleplaying issues? [hide]Email me[/hide] — I’m always open to suggestions!

[hide]Last week[/hide], we covered a few of the major plot points currently surrounding the Forsaken and what they’ve been up to so far in Cataclysm. This week, we’re going to head over to the Alliance side of things to take a look at the night elves and what they’ve been doing in the wake of all the cataclysmic chaos and destruction. With the launch of [hide]patch 4.2[/hide], the night elves have been launched back to the focus of the story as they deal with crippling losses in Hyjal and the final showdown between the mortal races of Azeroth and the elemental lord Ragnaros.

Of course, that’s the obvious road to take when dealing with a character that has been active in Azeroth since World of Warcraft’s launch. However, Ragnaros and his attacks, the fight for Nordrassil, and the reclamation of Hyjal shouldn’t be the only focus for night elf players. Since Cataclysm, night elf society has taken several unexpected turns that are of interest to night elf roleplayers, new and experienced alike.[hide]Continue reading All the World’s a Stage: Plot points for night elf roleplayers[/hide]Filed under: [hide]All the World’s a Stage (Roleplaying)[/hide][hide]All the World’s a Stage: Plot points for night elf roleplayers[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sun, 10 Jul 2011 16:00:00 EST. The Light and How to Swing It: Just how masterful can mastery healing get?

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]The Light and How to Swing It[/hide] for [hide]holy[/hide], [hide]protection[/hide] and [hide]retribution[/hide] paladins. Every Sunday, [hide]Chase Christian[/hide] invites you to discuss the finer side of the paladin class: the holy specialization. Feel free to [hide]email me[/hide] with any questions you want answered, like why paladins are so awesome.

Sometimes I feel like I can’t get away from [hide]Illuminated Healing[/hide]. Our holy paladin mastery has been receiving [hide]nonstop tweaks[/hide] since [hide]its introduction[/hide], and it’s always flirting with viability. Stats like haste and critical strike rating are predictable. I can draw up some formulas to show you how many extra ticks of [hide]Holy Radiance[/hide] you’ll receive at a given haste level. Mastery is much more nebulous than that, as its effectiveness depends entirely on the encounter and your healing assignment.

Everyone has some amount of mastery rating on their gear, and there’s even some passively built into our characters. While having a bit of mastery to make our heals bubbly helps our throughput, it’s certainly not overpowered. There are a few holy paladins who, in an attempt to see how far Illuminated Healing can go, have enchanted, reforged, and gemmed into mastery completely. With IH bubbles absorbing 35% of the value of the original heal, stacking mastery can obviously make something interesting happen. How potent can [hide]Illuminated Healing[/hide] really become?[hide]Continue reading The Light and How to Swing It: Just how masterful can mastery healing get[/hide]?Filed under: [hide]Paladin[/hide], [hide](Paladin) The Light and How to Swing It[/hide][hide]The Light and How to Swing It: Just how masterful can mastery healing get[/hide]? originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sun, 10 Jul 2011 18:00:00 EST. Know Your Lore, Tinfoil Hat Edition: The «death» of the Old Gods

The World of Warcraft is an expansive universe. You’re playing the game, you’re fighting the bosses, you know the how — but do you know the why? Each week, [hide]Matthew Rossi [/hide]and [hide]Anne Stickney[/hide] make sure you [hide]Know Your Lore[/hide] by covering the history of the story behind World of Warcraft.

Once upon a time, there was a little planet called Azeroth. A shining jewel of the universe, this little planet was chosen by the Titans, blessed by their presence and organized into a perfect representation of order and beauty. But that order and perfection wasn’t to last. At some undefined point in the little planet’s future, malevolent proponents of chaos, creatures simply called Old Gods, visited Azeroth’s surface and quickly decided to ruin the harmonic vision of the Titans with their own brutal, corrupt, and chaotic one.

The Titans realized something had happened and returned to find the world they had so carefully balanced in a state of utter chaos. They immediately launched an assault on the Old Gods, but they discovered something strange. The Old Gods had fully integrated themselves with the matrix of the little planet, placing a strange malaise on the inhabitants. If the Old Gods died, so too would Azeroth — and so the Titans imprisoned the Old Gods deep beneath the earth where they could do no further damage. They set to work repairing the planet, leaving various safeguards behind to watch over the world. Satisfied, they left — and they haven’t been seen on Azeroth since.

Today’s Know Your Lore is a Tinfoil Hat edition, meaning the following is a look into what has gone before with pure speculation on why it happened. The events presented are events that happened in Azeroth’s history, but the conclusions are merely theories and shouldn’t be taken as fact.[hide]Continue reading Know Your Lore, Tinfoil Hat Edition: The «death» of the Old Gods[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Lore[/hide], [hide]Know your Lore[/hide][hide]Know Your Lore, Tinfoil Hat Edition: The «death» of the Old Gods[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sun, 10 Jul 2011 20:00:00 EST. [hide][/hide]

В профиле персонажей на официальном сайте MMORPG World of Warcraft появилась возможность отслеживать персонажей и транспортные средства, [hide]сообщает[/hide] компания Blizzard Entertainment.

Patch 4.2 hotfixes for July 8

A weekend just doesn’t feel like a proper weekend without some hotfixes and tweaks to lead it in. Today, we’ve got a smallish list of new hotfixes for [hide]patch 4.2[/hide] from the official Warcraft blog. Most of these hotfixes address issues with the Firelands raid; however, there is one notable change that ought to have hunters breathing a sign of relief.

Combat pets should no longer aggro creatures while the player is mounted. Hunters, it’s safe to ride alongside your pet again. Fluffy will stop finding angry new friends to play with.

During the Rhyolith encounter, multiple volcanoes casting Eruption will now create separate stacks. Crushing a volcano will cause its stacks of Eruption to fade shortly after it’s crushed.

[hide]Riplimb’s Lost Collar[/hide] was apparently really, really lost. The item should now properly drop from select creatures.

Follow after the break for the full list of hotfixes.[hide]Continue reading Patch 4.2 hotfixes for July 8[/hide]Filed under: [hide]News items[/hide], [hide]Cataclysm[/hide], [hide]Hotfixes[/hide][hide]Patch 4.2 hotfixes for July 8[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 08 Jul 2011 22:26:00 EST. Blizzard to offer compensation for PVP season 10 transition woes

Yesterday we talked about an issue that had [hide]PVP players in an uproar[/hide]: Conquest points were accidentally down-converted to honor points a week early, with excess points converted to gold. And on top of that, Blizzard launched a new tier of ilevel 371 gear without warning, just after making ilevel 365 gear available for purchase with honor. Players that spent their points decking themselves out in the latest PVP armor found themselves abruptly faced with the stunning realization that had they saved their points, they could have had better gear. It was a mistake, and it was acknowledged by Zarhym in a fairly lengthy blue post, along with a mention that Blizzard was exploring some options to try and make it up to players.

Happily, it appears those options have been explored, as Bashiok posted today with a proposed solution for compensation: Players that were caught off-guard by the change will be provided with 4000 Honor Points, stacking over the cap. Players will not be able to accumulate more honor until spending below the 4000 cap, but that should give PVPers a chance to pick up that new gear. This will not be immediately implemented, as it seems Blizzard is still trying to figure out how, exactly, to determine who was affected by the sudden transition, and who was not — so don’t expect those 4000 points on your character tomorrow.

Still, it’s nice seeing Blizzard acknowledge something that was clearly a miscommunication in regards to the transition between seasons, and that they will be making sure those players caught in the middle of the fumble will be getting something back. Follow after the break for the full announcement from Bashiok.[hide]Continue reading Blizzard to offer compensation for PVP season 10 transition woes[/hide]Filed under: [hide]News items[/hide], [hide]PvP[/hide], [hide]Cataclysm[/hide][hide]Blizzard to offer compensation for PVP season 10 transition woes[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 08 Jul 2011 22:53:00 EST. Обманутым игрокам выдадут компенсацию в 4 000 очков чести

Компания Blizzard Entertainment [hide]планирует[/hide] компенсировать потери игроков MMORPG World of Warcraft: Cataclysm,
