Ответы Blizzard на 11-ю серию вопросов «Лечение»

Компания Blizzard Entertainment [hide]опубликовала[/hide] 11-ю серию ответов на вопросы игроков MMORPG World of Warcraft о лечении.

WoW Moviewatch: Dinner Party

[hide]Dinner Party[/hide] is an episodic installment from Smash Productions. Other movies exist about the two main characters, but I’ll admit this is the first one I’ve seen. Essentially, the two characters wake up in a cage to find they’re about to be eaten by wild gnomes. I feel like we’ve seen that plot before, but every video has to start somewhere.

What really impressed me about Dinner Party was how well the fight scenes were handled. It’s difficult to get convincing action out of WoW’s tired old models, but Smash did an amazing job of making it work. The choreography felt natural; the movements had none of the choppiness you might expect in simple game footage.

The dialogue felt like it could have used a little more tightening up, but overall, I was impressed with Dinner Party.

WoW Insider reviews Christie Golden’s Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects

Just under 10 years ago, on Oct. 1, 2001, a novel was released as a new addition to the Warcraft universe that would change the history and lore of the games forever. [hide]Lord of the Clans[/hide] outlined the history and childhood of a young orc named Thrall. Son of Durotan and Draka, the former slave would break free from his imprisonment at the hands of Aedelas Blackmoore, step forward to unite the shattered and lethargic clans of the orcs, and lead the Horde in a manner that none that had played the original Warcraft games could possibly comprehend at that point in time.

Almost a year later, [hide]Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos[/hide] was released, and that orc’s journey from the beleaguered, Scourge-ridden lands of the Eastern Kingdoms to the dusty and barren shores of Kalimdor was told in a tale that captured the hearts of players. No longer simply a character in a novel, Thrall’s travels and ultimate triumph, united with the night elves and humans at the peaks of Mount Hyjal and working as one to defeat Archimonde, would forever seal his place as true Warchief of the Horde.

It is only appropriate then that the latest novel written for the Warcraft franchise, detailing the further journeys of Thrall, be undertaken by the woman who started it all — [hide]Christie Golden[/hide]. Not just an author with a host of Warcraft novels under her belt, Golden is the voice of the former Warchief, the author who gave him a life of his own. Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects continues the journey that Thrall began nearly 10 years ago — and what a journey it is.[hide]Continue reading WoW Insider reviews Christie Golden’s Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Lore[/hide], [hide]Cataclysm[/hide][hide]WoW Insider reviews Christie Golden’s Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Mon, 18 Jul 2011 13:00:00 EST. Blood Pact: How to trounce through Firelands as a warlock

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Blood Pact[/hide] for [hide]affliction[/hide], [hide]demonology[/hide] and [hide]destruction[/hide] warlocks. For those who disdain the watered-down arts that other cling to like a safety blanket … For those willing to test their wills against the nether and claim the power that is their right … [hide]Blood Pact[/hide] welcomes you.

Being relatively newish to writing Blood Pact, I’m not sure if I’ve yet said this. On the off chance that I have, well, then it at least bears repeating: I am a raider. What I do, what I care about, is going into the most relevant content and kicking butt. Not only am I a raider, but I raid as a DPSer. Though my main might be a hybrid-capable for healing or tanking, I have absolutely no interest in either of those concepts. There’s a reason that the first four alts that I pushed to level 85 were the pure classes.

That being said, even I know that damage cannot be — is not — everything. The tired phrase that dead DPS is zero DPS certainly holds true. More so than that, very encounters are even about raw damage potential, anyway. Although Firelands is a lot less gimmick-based than tier 11 raids were, nearly every boss encounter is going to require some non-DPS related task that has a much higher chance of wiping the raid than anything else. Are you prepared to deal with every situation? Let’s find out.[hide]Continue reading Blood Pact: How to trounce through Firelands as a warlock[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Warlock[/hide], [hide](Warlock) Blood Pact[/hide][hide]Blood Pact: How to trounce through Firelands as a warlock[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Mon, 18 Jul 2011 14:00:00 EST. The Queue: Wizardly wisdom

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

In honor of the last Harry Potter movie, I impart to you this wisdom from its greatest wizard.

mbutler532011 asked:

Who is Knog and why is his bow so bad?

[hide]http://www.wowhead.com/item=62068/knogs-bow-of-ineptitude[/hide]

Knog is «Gonk» backwards, and Gonk is a hunter well-known on sites like Something Awful and Elitist Jerks. He really hates druids. Other SA folks also had their names emblazoned on terrible gear this expansion, like forum moderator and priest player Robble, with his [hide]wobbly staff[/hide].[hide]Continue reading The Queue: Wizardly wisdom[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: Wizardly wisdom[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sat, 16 Jul 2011 12:00:00 EST. Arcane Brilliance: The two-button mage myth

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Arcane Brilliance[/hide] for [hide]arcane[/hide], [hide]fire[/hide] and [hide]frost[/hide] mages. This week, we dispel mage-related myths, expose wizardly untruth, and separate magical fact from fiction … just like the Mythbusters, only with more Fireballs.

You may not believe this, but lately I’ve been finding something more annoying than the continued existence of warlocks. I know, I know. Crazy, right? What could possibly be more annoying than our emo-loving, Hot Topic-frequenting, mascara-laden, parent-hating nemesises? Nemesi? Apparently the dictionary says «nemesis» is its own plural, which is just … boring.

Anyway, the answer to the question that I just pretended you asked is this:

«Mages are a two-button class.» — The internet

These days, you literally can’t post the word «mage» anywhere on the web without someone, usually multiple people, posting some poorly spelled, perplexingly punctuated amalgam of the above words. It’s usually intended as an indictment of the class, a dismissal of what non-mages feel is the simplistic nature of of our major DPS spell rotations. The assumption is that mages are an easy, boring class to play, that one could be a successful mage simply by drunkenly alternating pressing two buttons.

For a very long time, it was easy for me to ignore this. It was stupid, and false, and perpetuated by non-mages who were either clear trolls or outright ignorant. But lately, I’ve been hearing self-deprecating versions of this same phrase from actual, honest-to-goodness mages. Are we really buying into the ignorant assumptions of the rest of the community? It was at that moment that I realized that it was time I addressed what I call the two-button myth.[hide]Continue reading Arcane Brilliance: The two-button mage myth[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Mage[/hide], [hide]Analysis / Opinion[/hide], [hide](Mage) Arcane Brilliance[/hide][hide]Arcane Brilliance: The two-button mage myth[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sat, 16 Jul 2011 14:00:00 EST. The Care and Feeding of Warriors: How to spend your valor points

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]The Care and Feeding of Warriors[/hide], the column dedicated to [hide]arms[/hide], [hide]fury[/hide] and [hide]protection warriors[/hide]. Despite repeated blows to the head from dragons, demons, Old Gods and whatever that thing over there was, Matthew Rossi will be your host.

[hide]Patch 4.2[/hide] is in full swing by now, with most players having unlocked either the Shadow Wardens or the Druids of the Talon for the various vendors. Many guilds are already working on heroic modes, and even more are fighting their way through the raid to one degree or another.

And what does this all mean to us warriors? Well, it means new gear, for one thing. The past couple of weeks, we’ve discussed gear you could pick up in the Firelands raid itself as well as via reputation rewards and unlockable vendors (and a quest chain). Now, it’s time to discuss what you can buy for valor points, since we’re getting close to the third week and you should have been able to pick up some points as well as had a shot at [hide]Occu’thar[/hide].

Before we go into the big list o’ loot, I wanted to say that a couple of weeks in, I’m feeling like I’m getting a handle on how warriors perform in the Firelands raid. It’s like I figured: Once again, warriors need to get geared up to equal other DPSers. I feel that for right now, arms DPS is the easiest to sustain, then SMF fury, and finally TG fury. I expect TG will pull ahead once I’m using a couple of Firelands weapons. On a fight like [hide]Rhyolith[/hide] or [hide]Staghelm[/hide], I can sustain more DPS than on an [hide]Alysrazor[/hide] or [hide]Shannox[/hide], where I have to target switch more, move around to chase down mobs or avoid damage and even interrupt. I think perhaps the nerfs to fury were more than was needed, but we’ll see once a couple more weeks are gone and we’re talking about set bonuses and Firelands level weapons.

Speaking of set bonuses, let’s start talking about valor point rewards.[hide]Continue reading The Care and Feeding of Warriors: How to spend your valor points[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Warrior[/hide], [hide]Analysis / Opinion[/hide], [hide]Raiding[/hide], [hide](Warrior) The Care and Feeding of Warriors[/hide], [hide]Raid Guides[/hide][hide]The Care and Feeding of Warriors: How to spend your valor points[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sat, 16 Jul 2011 16:00:00 EST. Totem Talk: An enhancement guide to Shannox and Baleroc

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Totem Talk for [hide]elemental[/hide], [hide]enhancement[/hide], and [hide]restoration[/hide] shaman. [hide]Josh Myers[/hide] once only tackled the hard questions about enhancement but has recently expanded his sphere of responsibility to all shaman DPS specs. (And no, two-handed enhancement is still never coming back.)

Every fight in Firelands has its positives and negatives for enhancement shaman. [hide]Rhyolith[/hide] takes reduced damage for 60% of the fight, but he goes molten at 25%, and you need to burn him before he burns you. [hide]Beth’tilac[/hide] spends the first 3 minutes making you run around like a confused wildebeest while you try to avoid scary fire on the ground, but then he gives you a nice, long burn phase at the end.

This seems to be the Firelands model, at least in the first four fights. Every fight has periods of low damage to the boss followed by intense DPS phases. [hide]Shannox[/hide], the Hagrid of Firelands, is no different. His first phase will either make you want to rip your movement keys off your keyboard or make you want to reroll an arcane mage, while his second will just make you want to roll arcane.[hide]Continue reading Totem Talk: An enhancement guide to Shannox and Baleroc[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Shaman[/hide], [hide]Raiding[/hide], [hide](Shaman) Totem Talk[/hide], [hide]Cataclysm[/hide], [hide]Raid Guides[/hide][hide]Totem Talk: An enhancement guide to Shannox and Baleroc[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sat, 16 Jul 2011 18:00:00 EST.
