Phat Loot Phriday: Symbiotic Worm

The blood elf and Gilnean stood high above the Grimtotem camp, unseen by the tauren below. The rocky outcropping had been guarded, but not sufficiently so. Lolegolas set down his pestle to the side and swished the liquified [hide]Symbiotic Worm[/hide] around inside the bowl.

«Throgg would not approve,» the druid said somberly. The Gilnean’s tone was clear, though. He didn’t think that disapproval meant Lolegolas should stop. «How long before the catalyst starts working?»

The blood elf stared into the bowl thoughtfully. «Seconds. Minutes at the most. It doesn’t take long. The addiction doesn’t go away for a reason. It’s very fast, very strong. Once this passes my lips, my body will remember the magic. With this much infusion, you’ll easily see me from down there.» Lolegolas set the bowl down. «He will be very unhappy with me for this.»

«He will see you through it, again.» The druid walked to the edge of the overlook. Three Grimtotem were unconscious and securely bound well away from the action. «I’m going now. I’ll be in position within a few minutes.»[hide]Continue reading Phat Loot Phriday: Symbiotic Worm[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Phat Loot Phriday[/hide][hide]Phat Loot Phriday: Symbiotic Worm[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 15 Jul 2011 18:00:00 EST. Shifting Perspectives: How to raid as a balance druid

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Shifting Perspectives[/hide] for [hide]cat[/hide] , [hide]bear[/hide] , [hide]restoration[/hide] and [hide]balance[/hide] druids. Balance news comes at you every Friday — learn how to master the forces of nature, and know what it means to be a giant laser turkey! Send questions, comments, or something you’d like to see to [hide]tyler@wowinsider.com[/hide].

If there is one thing that avid readers may know about me, it is that I have a huge tendency to push players to become less single-minded. In any game that I play (particularly MMOs), I despise the one-sided nature that most players fall into. The mind set that «I am a DPSer, I am here to DPS, all I do is DPS» is highly pervasive within the gaming community — and frankly, I want to break that concept so hard that it hurts.

No matter what class or spec it is that you may play, you always bring more to the table than your prescribed role. DPSers especially have far more utility than they realize. It’s time that players wake up to this, and that is exactly what I intend to facilitate in this week’s article. Playing balance is exceptionally fun. You bring fantastic damage to any raid group, but you also bring so much more than that. Want to be a better raider — no, want to be a better player in general? Then read on![hide]Continue reading Shifting Perspectives: How to raid as a balance druid[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Druid[/hide], [hide](Druid) Shifting Perspectives[/hide][hide]Shifting Perspectives: How to raid as a balance druid[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 15 Jul 2011 19:00:00 EST. The Daily Quest: Let’s talk PVP

WoW Insider’s on a [hide]Daily Quest[/hide] to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.

PVP has been a big topic lately, what with the [hide]flub in transition[/hide] from season to season. While patch 4.2 went off without a hitch, PVPers found themselves on the short end of the stick with point conversion being done a week before schedule. To top that all off, a new tier of PVP gear was introduced, also without warning. Blizzard’s [hide]offered compensation[/hide] to those affected, but that hasn’t stopped people from talking about it.

Today, we’ve got a few posts we’ve collected from around the blogosphere regarding PVP in myriad forms, including the new set of PVP gear.

[hide]Cynwise’s Battlefield Manual[/hide] goes over the PVP season changes and the [hide]mysterious phantom tier[/hide].

[hide]Armaggedon’s Coming[/hide] doesn’t care about your rating or gear — it’s how you [hide]play the game[/hide].

[hide]Root and Branch[/hide] dissects the numbers behind battlegrounds [hide]wins and losses[/hide].

Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Be sure to check out our [hide]WoW Resources Guide[/hide] for more WoW-related sites.

Breakfast Topic: What parts of the game are most underappreciated?

[hide][/hide]

This [hide]Breakfast Topic[/hide] has been brought to you by [hide]Seed[/hide], the Aol guest writer program that [hide]brings your words to WoW Insider’s pages[/hide].

Many things in the World of Warcraft go unappreciated by the community as a whole. In such a large game and such an extensive world, it is easy to overlook small details without which the game would be much more difficult and frustrating or just less pleasant to play.

The first thing that comes to my mind that is underappreciated in WoW is the music and sound effects. I know so many people who play with their sound down, and while I can understand muting my sound for a few quests or specific zones or while fighting certain monsters, I cannot believe that so many people play this game completely muted and listening to their own «thrash metal» or whatever it is the kids are listening to these days.

I’ve been playing a priest lately. I’ve been doing the Tol Barad dailies every day, and I am absolutely loving the Jedi mind trick ability [hide]Mind Soothe[/hide]. Yet I know that 90% of priests out there don’t even have it on their action bar … and I’m sure some have never even heard of it. Mind Soothe is like a lesser but group-wide stealth! You can skip entire trash pulls in heroics with it, or just run past that certain monster that you don’t wish to fight.

With all your love of the game, what aspect of it do you love that you think not enough other people appreciate? Share your thoughts, and show some appreciation for the little things that Blizzard’s team has put hard work into!

Around Azeroth: Druid of the flame

[hide][/hide]
It seems that [hide]Karsolais[/hide] of [hide]Endgame[/hide] on Galakrond (US-A) has fallen into a pool of rather dirty [hide]liquid hot magma[/hide]. But after enduring this week’s heat wave in the American south, a dip in some lava sounds cool and refreshing. It was so hot that the cords of my earbuds melted together in my pocket. Seriously! Video of the Delegation and Volcanus the Firelord

Spoiler alert! If you do not want to read or watch anything about the quest for the legendary staff [hide]Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest[/hide], read and watch no further. Also, the video contains some strong language, but nothing you wouldn’t expect from a raid group on Vent.

Guilds are finally getting their 25 Eternal Embers from the Firelands and continuing to forge the great legendary staff Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest. The next big hurdle in the quest for the staff is the [hide]Delegation[/hide] quest line, requiring raiders to complete a set of four charged fragments from Shannox, Beth’tilac, Rhyolith, and Alysrazor. Each fragment requires the player on the Dragonwrath quest to complete a task during these encounters in order to charge the boss-specific fragment. Once all of the fragments are complete, the raid gains access to The Anvil of Conflagration, where the [hide]Branch of Nordrassil[/hide] is being held.[hide]Continue reading Video of the Delegation and Volcanus the Firelord[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Raiding[/hide], [hide]Cataclysm[/hide][hide]Video of the Delegation and Volcanus the Firelord[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 14 Jul 2011 20:00:00 EST. Patch 4.2 hotfixes for July 14

Another night, another round of hotfixes for [hide]patch 4.2[/hide]. Today’s list, posted to the official Warcraft blog, is pretty short — but it includes some tweaks to heroic encounters in the new Firelands raid. Also included are a welcome fix to those players doing dailies out in the Molten Front, and a tweak for those seeking the new legendary weapon.

In Firelands, Rhyolith’s Concussive Stomp damage has been increased on heroic difficulty.

In the heroic Ragnaros encounter, Molten Elemental move speed has been decreased by 15% on Heroic difficulty — but the adjustment will require a realm restart to take effect.

Players working on the Peaked Interest quest should no longer experience issues when the Fire Hawk Carry Egg Ping spell is cast.

Follow after the break for the full list of hotfixes.[hide]Continue reading Patch 4.2 hotfixes for July 14[/hide]Filed under: [hide]News items[/hide], [hide]Hotfixes[/hide][hide]Patch 4.2 hotfixes for July 14[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 14 Jul 2011 23:49:00 EST.
