Lichborne: Patch 4.2 raid gear for the death knight tank

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide] Lichborne[/hide] for [hide]blood[/hide], [hide]frost[/hide], and [hide] unholy[/hide] death knights. In the post-Cataclysm era, death knights are no longer the new kids on the block. Let’s show the other classes how a hero class gets things done.

As far as raid content goes, [hide]Firelands[/hide] does feel a little short, in theory, with only seven bosses. That said, there’s still enough gear to make it just difficult enough to figure out exactly what to wear. This week, we’ll check out the various ilevel 378 tank gear you can pull out of Firelands, then figure out exactly how it all fits together and what pieces you should be aiming for.[hide]Continue reading Lichborne: Patch 4.2 raid gear for the death knight tank[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Death Knight[/hide], [hide](Death Knight) Lichborne[/hide][hide]Lichborne: Patch 4.2 raid gear for the death knight tank[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 02 Aug 2011 13:00:00 EST. The previous bar was set by Battlefield 3, but according to President Frank Gibeau during an investor’s conference call, SWTOR far exceed BF3’s preorder sales. In fact, according to Gibeau, the sales exceeded the company’s expected sales curve, therefore breaking records no one at the game developing company could have expected.

Reader UI of the Week: Recover from corruption with Icewalker

[hide][/hide]
Each week, WoW Insider and [hide]Mathew McCurley[/hide] bring you a fresh look at [hide]reader-submitted UIs[/hide] as well as [hide]Addon Spotlight[/hide], which spotlights the latest user interface addons. Have a screenshot of your own UI that you’d like to submit? Send your screenshots along with info on what mods you’re using to [hide]readerui@wowinsider.com[/hide], and [hide]follow Mathew[/hide] on Twitter.

Reader UI is no stranger to UI crashes and corruption issues. Believe me, I’ve had my fair share of UI crashes that completely and utterly obliterated my entire setup. It is a sad state of affairs when your settings just decide to up and leave on you. Not fun, right?

Losing your user interface in a crash or through some corruption issue is annoying and demoralizing, to be sure. However, rebuilding usually takes less time than you think and sometimes adds new and unique aspects to your UI that weren’t there before. In destruction comes organized rebirth, or something like that.

Icewalker sent in his UI with the sad tale of UI failure and starting over, which I felt for. Poor, innocent UIs getting corrupted, probably from Old God influence, just puts me in a bad mood. So today, we will take a look at Icewalker’s new, basic UI and grieve together for all of those user interfaces lost in senseless crashes and the wanton ways of home computing.[hide]Continue reading Reader UI of the Week: Recover from corruption with Icewalker[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Add-Ons[/hide], [hide]Reader UI of the Week[/hide][hide]Reader UI of the Week: Recover from corruption with Icewalker[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 02 Aug 2011 17:00:00 EST. Totem Talk: Ask a restoration shaman (again)

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Totem Talk[/hide] for [hide]elemental[/hide], [hide]enhancement[/hide] and [hide]restoration[/hide] shaman. Want to be a sultan of swing healing? A champion of Chain Heal? Totem Talk: Restoration, brought to you by Joe Perez (otherwise known as Lodur from [hide]World of Matticus[/hide] and co-host of the [hide]For the Lore[/hide] and [hide]Raid Warning[/hide] podcasts), shows you how.

Last week we talked about [hide]shaman with axes[/hide] and a little bit about the restoration shaman two-piece bonus from tier 12 gear. The last week has certainly been a busy one for most folks. With the video now out for DREAM Paragon’s [hide]25-man heroic Ragnaros kill[/hide] and an idea of their group’s raid composition, it has been a week of speculation and debate.

There’s one thing that always will remain constant — there are always more questions to be answered! This week, we’ll be taking reader questions that have come in through comments, [hide]Twitter[/hide] or [hide]email[/hide] in another installment of [hide]Ask a Restoration Shaman[/hide]![hide]Continue reading Totem Talk: Ask a restoration shaman (again)[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Shaman[/hide], [hide](Shaman) Totem Talk[/hide][hide]Totem Talk: Ask a restoration shaman (again)[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 02 Aug 2011 18:00:00 EST. Officers’ Quarters: Raiding without characters

Every Monday, Scott Andrews contributes [hide]Officers’ Quarters[/hide], a column about the ins and outs of guild leadership. He is the author of [hide]The Guild Leader’s Handbook[/hide], available now from [hide]No Starch Press[/hide].

A question for the readership: How important is it to you that the players you raid with are interesting and engaging people? Is it essential, or merely a bonus?

This week, a raid leader complains that his guildmates are [hide]boring[/hide] — to the point that he’s considering leaving the guild altogether. He wants to know what he can do to inject some much-needed personality into the guild.

Hi Scott

I read your column regularly and find it very insightful. I have implemented various pieces of advice within my guild to varying degrees of success so thank you for this. Now however its my turn to pose a question.

How do you create a guild with character? Let me explain this a bit with some history. I have been raid leader for my guild for the last 7-8 months and in the last 2 I inherited the GM tag as he didn’t have much time to play. I was practically doing all the work anyway so this wasn’t an issue. My issue is two fold, firstly I don’t think I really like anyone in the guild apart from one person. And secondly it seems like I play with a bunch of automatons. This isn’t to say I dislike anyone but its just they all seem to lack any sort of character and wouldn’t say boo to a goose![hide]Continue reading Officers’ Quarters: Raiding without characters[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Officers’ Quarters (Guild Leadership)[/hide][hide]Officers’ Quarters: Raiding without characters[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Mon, 01 Aug 2011 14:00:00 EST. The Daily Quest: Go go go

WoW Insider’s on a [hide]Daily Quest[/hide] to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.

Gearscore may be a thing of the past, but Dungeon Finder queues and the people you find in them remain pretty much the same. The locations have changed, but you’re still going to find a Go Go Go Guy every now and again. I don’t really queue for random dungeons anymore — I’ve got so much going on in my day that I can’t usually spare the half hour to 45 minutes of sitting in queue waiting for it to pop.

Today, however, we’ve got a blog post from someone who doesn’t mind the long queue times and actually prefers them, as well as a few other posts from around the blogosphere about time investments.

[hide]Priest With a Cause[/hide] shares some reasons as to why [hide]long queue times[/hide] aren’t a bad thing.

[hide]Flash of Moonfire[/hide] wonders if there’s any reason to put more time into raiding than say, [hide]twice a week[/hide].

[hide]Mana Obscura[/hide] found some time to [hide]check out the WoW TCG[/hide] and writes about the experience.

Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Be sure to check out our [hide]WoW Resources Guide[/hide] for more WoW-related sites.

Blood Pact: Quashing misleading rumors about warlocks

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Blood Pact[/hide] for [hide]affliction[/hide], [hide]demonology[/hide] and [hide]destruction[/hide] warlocks. For those who disdain the watered-down arts that other cling to like a safety blanket … For those willing to test their wills against the nether and claim the power that is their right … [hide]Blood Pact[/hide] welcomes you.

Rumor has it, dearest warlocks, that we’re pretty much the best pure caster class in this raiding tier. Now I’m not one to give in to such hearsay, but there’s a pretty reliable source to support it. That said, I think it is safe to say that this is one thing that we all pretty much knew. Despite that, there are still other whisperings going around the DPS water cooler that need to be put out of their misery. This week, we’re going to talk about some of those things that you may have heard in passing by, possibly even from a pretty reliably source, that simply aren’t true (or aren’t quite as true as those supporting them would have you believe).

If you recall, as few weeks ago, I went into a few tips and tricks for warlocks to adhere to during their [hide]adventures into the Firelands[/hide]. Predominantly, the focus there was on staying alive. Those suggestions should always be taken to heart. Staying alive is always the best policy — but there are times when it’s killing things that you’re really interested in. Let’s get started on those tactics.[hide]Continue reading Blood Pact: Quashing misleading rumors about warlocks[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Warlock[/hide], [hide](Warlock) Blood Pact[/hide][hide]Blood Pact: Quashing misleading rumors about warlocks[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Mon, 01 Aug 2011 16:00:00 EST.
