Blizzard зарегистрировала торговую марку Mists of Pandaria

[hide][/hide]

Возможно, «Mists of Pandaria» — это название нового дополнения к MMORPG World of Warcraft, а анонсировать его могут 21-22 октября 2011 года на выставке BlizzCon 2011.

Breakfast Topic: When emotions catch you by surprise

This [hide]Breakfast Topic[/hide] has been brought to you by [hide]Seed[/hide], the AOL guest writer program that brings [hide]your words[/hide] to WoW Insider’s pages.

I’m not a roleplayer. Oh sure, there are times when my actions in the game can be considered of a roleplaying nature, but I don’t play the game that way. I know all about roleplaying, as I played Dungeons & Dragons back when Gary Gygax used to lead DnD games in the basement of the store in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where he lived.

WoW really doesn’t get to me. It’s 1s and 0s contained on computers, and by pushing buttons, I cause those 1s and 0s to align in a certain way. Just because that certain way has not yet delivered my T2 gloves is not cause for me to get upset. It just means more runnings of Blackwing Lair. I’ve seen guild members lose 40 straight rolls on items and then turn around and win the next 40. As I remind my guild members, «Some days, you’re the pigeon. Some days, you’re the statue.» It’s nothing to get upset about.

This patch, however, caused a collision of the roleplaying and the computer worlds. Having read [hide]The Shattering[/hide], I knew what happened to Magni Bronzebeard, his sacrifice for his people. I was rather sad that when Cataclysm was released, there was no way to see what happened. When it was announced that Old Ironforge would be opened in Patch 4.1, I knew where I had to be the day before the patch.[hide]Continue reading Breakfast Topic: When emotions catch you by surprise[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Breakfast Topics[/hide], [hide]Guest Posts[/hide][hide]Breakfast Topic: When emotions catch you by surprise[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 03 Aug 2011 08:00:00 EST. Around Azeroth: Take the long way home

[hide][/hide]
The morning after the annual Horde/Alliance dance party in the Plaguelands is always a bit awkward. This hungover blood elf and human are desperately trying to avoid each other’s gaze on the long «carriage ride of shame» home to their respective cities. Sitting between them? A vast silence. (Thanks to Amallia for the screenshot!)

This is all your fault, Blizzard. I hope you can live with yourself after that title.

Breakfast Topic: How do you blend marriage and playing WoW?

This [hide]Breakfast Topic[/hide] has been brought to you by [hide]Seed[/hide], the AOL guest writer program that brings [hide]your words[/hide] to WoW Insider’s pages.

My husband and I have both been playing WoW for several years. He was playing before me, then I got hooked. We take turns surpassing each other in levels and achievements. We like to roll starter toons together and try to choose complementary classes. We both belong to the same guild. Although the WoW portion of our relationship tends to be pretty harmonious, we have each been known to occasionally roll anonymous characters on a different server to get a little bit of quiet time.

WoW is something we both love, although we each tend to focus on different aspects of the game, and it’s always good for a conversation topic when we don’t feel like talking about what the heck we’re going to do about the kids or griping about our jobs. We communicate our in-game plans, and when one of us wants to raid, we schedule it so that the other one is available to deal with any kid-related crises that come up.

Does your spouse or partner play the game? How do you guys make it work? Do you take turns, or do you spend every online moment together as a team? Are you competitive and try to constantly outdo each other, or are you as lovey online as you are in real life?

WoW Archivist: Patch 1.8, Dragons of Nightmare

The [hide]WoW Archivist[/hide] explores the secrets of World of Warcraft’s past. What did the game look like years ago? Who is etched into WoW’s history? What secrets does the game still hold?

Who says every content patch needs a new raid tier? Patch 1.8, released Oct. 10, 2005 (just slightly under one month after patch 1.7), laughs at your raid tiers. It was actually quite a small patch as far as content goes, and there wasn’t anything particularly world-shattering in it, but it still did something interesting: It built up future content. Patch 1.8 implemented the following:

The Dragons of Nightmare world bosses

A revamp of Silithus

The groundwork for holidays such as Hallow’s End and Winter Veil

None of these things, on their own, were very large events. They were cool pieces of content, but they weren’t supported by a raid or dungeon. Quite the opposite — they laid the groundwork that would herald a raid coming in a later patch.

Let’s dig in, shall we? First the patch notes in full, then the analysis.[hide]Continue reading WoW Archivist: Patch 1.8, Dragons of Nightmare[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Analysis / Opinion[/hide], [hide]WoW Archivist[/hide][hide]WoW Archivist: Patch 1.8, Dragons of Nightmare[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 02 Aug 2011 09:00:00 EST. Around Azeroth: Transmogrification error!

[hide][/hide]
«One of our members was late to log on for raid night,» writes [hide]Hidr[/hide] of [hide]Arisen[/hide] on Ner’zhul (US-A). «So with a pet biscuit and shrink dust, we figured we could split our boomkin into two DPSers and go ahead with it, since he has more than enough DPS to spare. The little guy was great, but hadn’t learned to stay out of the fire!»

The Queue: In which Diablo is questioned

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky, senior D1 editor, will be your host today.

The D3 questions getting asked in relation to WoW are quite numerous lately, and it’s important to remember one big thing:

Blizzard loves to share technology amongst the games.

Diablo 2 had a lot of precursors to WoW, as did all their other games. Even some WoW elements are in StarCraft 2 (achievements, Battle.net integration). Will some of this tech eventually make it into WoW? Almost assuredly.

But … not everything is a technology decision, as we’ll see in our first question.

Yours95 asked:

I understand this isn’t exactly Wow-related, but it concerns Blizzard’s real-money auction house: Isn’t Blizzard afraid that this might allow players to cut corners, take out the effort required to work for rewards, etc. Also, if Blizzard is willing to implement this in Diablo, do you think it might reach WoW and/or Starcraft?[hide]Continue reading The Queue: In which Diablo is questioned[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: In which Diablo is questioned[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 02 Aug 2011 11:00:00 EST. WoW Moviewatch: Molten Front Ganker

[hide]Wowcrendor[/hide] and [hide]Jesse Cox[/hide] teamed up to create this comedy spoof, [hide]Molten Front Ganker[/hide]. It’s been a year since [hide]Bed Intruder[/hide] swept the internet up in its Auto-Tune glory, and the duo chose to celebrate that anniversary through a WoW parody. This music video feels like such a great idea that I almost wonder why it took this long to produce.

Of course, it’s a good thing that the appearance of this parody happened just now, because Wowcrendor and Jesse have put together a tone-perfect video. The «Hyjal kids, Hyjal wife» pun couldn’t be better suited to lampooning the source material; I can’t think of a better lyrical pun at all.
