The Queue: My «Glimpses» prediction

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky, senior void corespondent, will be your host today.

The above screenshot was [hide]released yesterday as a teaser[/hide] to upcoming content. Be it patch 4.3 or the next expansion, we don’t know. My bet would be for patch 4.3. What do the NPCs do? Here are my thoughts:

Transmogrifier Transmogrification is the processes of changing one thing into another. My guess is that it’s going to switch around enchanting materials, change the sex of the warlock pet (something we’ve heard about), or dye your armor (unlikely to be patch content, I think).

Void storage This is the most interesting NPC. It wouldn’t be out of the question for WoW to get an account-wide bank. That would take care of things like cross-server heirloom distribution. The other possibility for this is as a gear closet to store your tabards (which we’ve been hearing about forever) and your old sets of gear.

Fun speculation, but until someone leaks the info or Blizzard comes out and outright tells us, we don’t know.

Lord Gavin asked:

I’m ready for a WoW sequel not expansion. It’s kinda daunting to see the level cap at 100. I know a few people who have thought about picking up the game and see that the top level is 85 and decide it’s too much for them.[hide]Continue reading The Queue: My «Glimpses» prediction[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: My «Glimpses» prediction[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 12 Aug 2011 11:00:00 EST. WoW Moviewatch: The Pretender

N3rKMinD’s name is very difficult to type, but his WoW-themed video for [hide]The Pretender[/hide] isn’t difficult to watch at all. This music video is a fun, stylized romp through Azeroth alongside a night elf rogue who seems determined to lay down sweet, sweet revenge on some other night elves.

While I’m sure some readers will disagree, I actually really missed music videos like this. We don’t see as many of them as we used to. I like a fun, narrative music video with some good old-fashioned rock and roll in the background. (The music is [hide]Foo Fighters[/hide]. [hide]Dave Grohl[/hide] performs with [hide]Tenacious D[/hide]. That makes it rock and roll, okay?) A little rock and roll, a little night elf rogue, and a little vengeance come together for a kickass video.

Phat Loot Phriday: Alysra’s Razor

Lolegolas shuddered in the bed, and sweat beaded along his forehead and cheekbones. Throgg worked quietly and carefully, shaving the blood elf’s jaw with [hide]Alysra’s Razor[/hide]. The blood elf feebly tried to wave the orc away, but Throgg simply ignored him.

«This is a knife from a burning bird in the Firelands,» Throgg said. «Very agile weapon, very fast and expert blade. See? It even has a place for a pretty yellow gem.»

«Leave me alone,» the blood elf whispered. «You’re making me do this. I don’t want to. Magic isn’t so bad, it doesn’t hurt anyone.»

«I know,» Throgg said. «I’m sorry for this pain. It will get better, and you will feel better. I will make all of this up to you, I promise.»

Lolegolas lurched, rolling over to the side of the bed. Throgg quickly yanked a bucket under the elf’s head and pulled his hair back. «Go ahead. This is not the nastiest thing I’ve ever done.»

Lolegolas couldn’t respond, as he was busy vomiting.

Raid Rx: Tagging out and tagging in healers

Every week, [hide]Raid Rx[/hide] will help you quarterback your healers to victory! Your host is [hide]Matt Low[/hide], the grand poohbah of [hide]World of Matticus[/hide] and a founder of [hide]Plus Heal[/hide], a discussion community for healers of all experience levels and interests. Catch his weekly podcast on healing, raiding and leading, the [hide]Matticast[/hide].

Ever had to swap a healer in the middle of a raid? Maybe he requested it. Maybe he’s experiencing connection-related problems. The most common reason I can think of is because he’s not able to handle his position well at all. I’m also guessing you tried to switch healer assignments in case he kept striking out. Clearly that didn’t work, because you’re in the process of bringing in a new player to replace him.

When doing this, you need to talk to the player twice: once to signal his stepping out, and then once again after the raid for a diagnostic on what he messed up on.[hide]Continue reading Raid Rx: Tagging out and tagging in healers[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Raid Rx (Raid Healing)[/hide][hide]Raid Rx: Tagging out and tagging in healers[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 12 Aug 2011 15:00:00 EST. WoW Moviewatch: Heroes

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from Kidsake. His music video for [hide]God’s Gonna Cut You Down[/hide] received huge acclaim among machinima fans. The use of Johnny Cash as musical background, coupled with unique and interesting visuals, thrilled many of us.

Kidsake’s back with a new video called [hide]Heroes[/hide]. It’s a shout-out to his friends and fellow WoW players, featuring a large series of character vignettes set to Peter Gabriel’s cover of Heroes. This surprisingly moody, brooding piece actually reminds me of Kidsake’s other videos. He definitely brings a thoughtful, enigmatic feel to his videos.

Blizzard drops «Glimpses» screenshot with 3 unknown NPCs — possible patch or expansion hint?

The above picture titled «Glimpses» was [hide]just posted on Blizzard’s Facebook page[/hide]. It shows ethereals hanging out, offering arcane reforging, transmogrification, and «void storage,» whatever that is.

We don’t know where this is from, and the picture is presented by Blizzard with the comment, «Interesting.» So we know it’s a glimpse at something coming up. What could that be? It’s possibly related to patch 4.3 or the next expansion. And on that note, it wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibilities for Blizzard to start dropping hints for the next expansion now.

Our staff picked up that it’s a generic Stormwind building right away. In fact, the NPC and layout looks very similar to Cordell’s Enchanting in the Mages District in Stormwind; that’s pictured below. Obviously, the doodads and room decorations are different, but the layout and NPC spacing are the same.

World-first Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest completed by Premonition

Big congratulations are in store for [hide]Siiz[/hide], gnome mage extraordinaire from [hide]Premonition[/hide], who is the world-first wielder of the newest legendary item, [hide]Dragonwrath[/hide]. Along with completing the legendary staff, Siiz opened up the [hide]Lil’Tarecgosa[/hide] companion pet for his entire guild, as well as the ability to use the staff as a mount to transform into Tarecgosa herself.

The unique Tarecgosa model is used as the mount, much like how players transform into a drake using the [hide]Vial of the Sands[/hide]. Tarecgosa cannot carry another player as a passenger, however. From the screenshots, the mount version looks bigger than most drakes, noting its legendary status. Very, very cool. I like the fact that Blizzard has added in something that will let the legendary staff live on beyond its usefulness, as opposed to just looking nice when you equip it.

Again, big congratulations to Siiz and Premonition. Even though Siiz is a gnome, we won’t hold it against him.

15 Minutes of Fame: Guilds build their own third faction

From Hollywood celebrities to the guy next door, millions of people have made World of Warcraft a part of their lives. How do you play WoW? We’re giving each approach its own [hide]15 Minutes of Fame[/hide].

Shane Moore, author of the [hide]Abyss Walker[/hide] series, missed being included in our recent roundup of [hide]WoW-playing authors[/hide] — but that’s not why we’re profiling him today. Shane’s been rabble-rousing on the battlefield and around town, cooking up a whole different kind of PVP stew on his home realm: a third faction.

If you’ve ever felt ambivalent about playing sides in the Horde vs. Alliance tug-of-war, you’ve probably dreamed of what a third faction could be like. Shane and his guildmates are playing around with the idea in game now. At more than 1,000 members and growing strong, The Third Faction claims to draw its powers from the mandate of the masses rather than the tyrannical whims of Azeroth’s ruling dictators.[hide]Continue reading 15 Minutes of Fame: Guilds build their own third faction[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Interviews[/hide], [hide]15 Minutes of Fame[/hide][hide]15 Minutes of Fame: Guilds build their own third faction[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 11 Aug 2011 15:00:00 EST.
