Breakfast Topic: What item slot would you create?

This [hide]Breakfast Topic[/hide] has been brought to you by [hide]Seed[/hide], the AOL guest writer program that brings [hide]your words[/hide] to WoW Insider’s pages.

We’re all intimately familiar with the 19 equipment slots on our character screens. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of finally putting an item in an empty space on a low-level alt, and many players absolutely live for new gear at max level. Love it or hate it, care or don’t, there’s no denying the truth: Loot is a major part of the WoW experience. And the 19 slots we have — head, neck, shoulder, back, chest, shirt, tabard, wrist, hands, waist, legs, feet, two rings, two trinkets, main-hand, off-hand, and wand/ranged/relic — are filled and then updated almost constantly.

What if we made it an even 20? There are still some parts of the body left ungeared, so to speak, and other slots that could be broken down further. What if legs were two slots — maybe kneepads and leggings? Or perhaps a vest/harness slot, worn under robes and armor but over shirts?

I’d add a slot for earrings. They could range from simple gold and silver studs for characters in their 20s all the way up to elaborate magical hoops and bars for 85s. Can you imagine sporting flashy gemstone earrings you ripped from the lobes of various bosses? My blood elf would enjoy rocking some seashell spirals stolen from Lady Naz’jar.

If you could add one more item slot to the character screen, what would you add and why? What kinds of items would that slot accept? Where we would we obtain them?

World of WarCrafts: T-shirts and more from Julia Minamata

[hide]World of WarCrafts[/hide] spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our [hide]Arts and Crafts in [/hide][hide]WoW[/hide] page.

Who doesn’t love a good T-shirt, especially if it’s got great design? I know I do, although my T-shirt skills lean toward clicking an appropriate link on [hide]Jinx[/hide] and typing in my credit card information. Creating T-shirts can be a time-consuming process, but the end result is ultimately satisfying, especially when one has the skills to back it up. Today we’ve got a crafter who is particularly talented when it comes to creating Warcraft T-shirts — but given her background, this really isn’t too much of a surprise.

Meet [hide]Julia Minamata[/hide], a freelance illustrator who is no slouch when it comes to art. She’s worked for clients including BusinessWeek, The New Yorker and The National Post. Don’t let the big names fool you; Julia’s art lends itself to whimsical color and dreamy characters, something that works perfectly with a game like World of Warcraft. Julia’s been creating Warcraft T-shirts, art, and sculpture for friends and family for years, and now she’s sharing it with us! Check out the gallery for a look at Julia’s Warcraft work, and follow after the break as we sit down to have a chat with Julia about her background in art, her T-shirts, and World of Warcraft.

Around Azeroth: Advanced grooming behavior in the common crow

[hide][/hide]
I say, is this the Orgrimmar hair salon I’ve heard so much about? Well, my good goblin, I’d like to brighten up my crest a bit and take a little length off my plumage. And if you think it wouldn’t be too Jersey, maybe some pomade in my tailfeathers. Mating season is coming up, you know, and it’s so hard to distinguish oneself from the flock. The flock. Get it? Ho ho ho! (Thanks to [hide]Brthrdizzle[/hide] of [hide]Addicted[/hide] on Durotan [US-H] for the screenshot!)

The Queue: I’m for Deathwing

[img]»[/img]
Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.

I just wanted to let you all know that I’m on Team Deathwing. I hope he has great success in his quest to destroy Azeroth.

The twist ending to Cataclysm? Deathwing wins and we end up going to a new planet via a new portal, just like the Dark Portal.

That new world is Pandaria.

Bonethrower03 asked:

Do you think it was really more work to revamp Azeroth as opposed to creating a new world?[hide]Continue reading The Queue: I’m for Deathwing[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: I’m for Deathwing[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 11 Aug 2011 11:00:00 EST. The Classifieds: Including tips for submitting to the Classifieds

[hide][/hide]
[hide]The Classifieds[/hide] brings you weekly news from around the WoW community, including our famous Random Acts of Uberness shout-outs to players who make your WoW sessions memorable.

We had a few questions this week for how to actually submit tips to this column, from guild advertisements to acts of uberness and other snippets here and there.

In general, keep your advertisement to a few sentences to a paragraph long. While we have lots of space some weeks, other weeks the column can get pretty tight. More importantly to you, we find that people don’t really read paragraphs longer than a few sentences. They might skim the information, but mostly you want to make sure that you keep your entire advertisement quickly consumable and easy to understand.

In terms of making your guild stand out, try and look for things that really separate you from everyone else. Most guilds try and focus on mature people who enjoy having fun, have a laid-back atmosphere, and enjoy drama-free raiding. What’s more unique is the flavor of your guild chat. Do you talk about comic books, sports, or family life? What class is your main tank? What’s the guild structure like?

Lastly, make sure you include links to your guild, characters, and other important bits. While I do my best to look them up on Battle.net, if I can’t find the character, I can link readers to it. Make sure to scan the instructions in each section, too; we include more tips there.[hide]Continue reading The Classifieds: Including tips for submitting to the Classifieds[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Classifieds[/hide][hide]The Classifieds: Including tips for submitting to the Classifieds[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 10 Aug 2011 09:00:00 EST. Around Azeroth: Threadbare wings

[hide][/hide]
I know it’s just a graphics glitch, but I still want this mount. [hide]Deathinabox[/hide] of [hide]Blw Trees Kill Alliance[/hide] on Dragonmaw (US-H) was riding through Uldum when he discovered that his windrider had become substantially more insubstantial than was normal. Not pictured: Deathinabox and his mount plummeting to the ground after the universe realizes that a creature whose wings are full of holes cannot possibly support the weight of a tauren male.

The Queue: Couch potato

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. [hide]Mathew McCurley[/hide] will be your host today. The more you click on my name, the more I like you.

I am starving. Not, you know, literally starving, but I’ve spent the last few weeks changing my diet a bit and have been eating less. There is a crucial point in changing the way you eat, sleep, exercise, all that fun stuff, where your body just sort of accepts the new world as long as you don’t go back to the way things were and slip up. Well, today, I’m starving, and I don’t know why. There is nothing I want more today than a burger and fries.

You know what the worst part about watching a show with another person is? You are at their whim when they want to watch new episodes and it sucks. I want to watch more Breaking Bad. Ugh. There is so much to watch.

Charlie asked:

Didn’t we know more about wrath going into Blizzcon around this time then we do about the next expansion? Better security this time around maybe?[hide]Continue reading The Queue: Couch potato[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: Couch potato[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 10 Aug 2011 11:00:00 EST. WoW Moviewatch: Temple of the Moon

This cover of [hide]Temple of the Moon[/hide] comes from katethegreat19; you may recall her cover of [hide]Lament of the Highborne[/hide] from a few years ago. This Temple of the Moon is amazingly well-performed, as was her earlier work; Kate’s got an amazing voice and Temple of the Moon really shows it off. The song was composed by [hide]David Arkenstone[/hide].

The video itself is a first for katethegreat19. While the story feels a little opaque, the imagery and viewpoint are right on target. I’m glad to see Kate folding machinima into her work. I suspect she’ll be able to sync the imagery to her music in subtle and effective ways.

Take the time to listen to this musical treat for a virtual trip straight to the heart of tranquil Darnassus.

Interested in the wide world of [hide]machinima[/hide]? We have new movies every weekday here on [hide]WoW Moviewatch[/hide]! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at [hide]moviewatch@wowinsider.com[/hide].
