WoW Moviewatch: 9 Times by Brunhila

We’re big fans of [hide]9 Crimes[/hide] by Damien Rice; the music is beautiful and the lyrics are striking and haunting. We’re also fans of Brunhila, who brings strong vocal talent to the world of WoW filk. Her remake of [hide]Mad World[/hide] is one of my favorite parodies in the last year.

Obviously, I was excited to see Brunhila tackle Rice’s song with [hide]9 Times[/hide]. It’s a familiar raiding story; a guild’s raid has too many melee, and someone has to sit out. Make sure you watch the video all the way through, though. Something about the little girl shouting «Let’s gank some noobs!» made me giggle like a madman.

I really love Brunhila’s stuff. Her voice is amazing, and she brings some serious vocal talent to her parodies. We could always use more of that, and I’m grateful she’s doing so.

WoW Archivist: Recapping classic World of Warcraft

The [hide]WoW Archivist[/hide] explores the secrets of World of Warcraft’s past. What did the game look like years ago? Who is etched into WoW’s history? What secrets does the game still hold?

The Archivist has come a long way. We’ve just about wrapped up the chronological history of classic World of Warcraft. Sure, there are still bits and bobs that have gone unexplored for now («The Ashbringer …») but we’ve covered every single major patch from the World of Warcraft from prerelease all the way up through the final raid tier of level 60 content. The next time we tackle a set of patch notes, we’ll be firmly in The Burning Crusade territory. Exciting, isn’t it?

Before we leap into that sweet, sweet Burning Crusade, let’s recap what we’ve covered already, starting way back in July 2009.[hide]Continue reading WoW Archivist: Recapping classic World of Warcraft[/hide]Filed under: [hide]WoW Archivist[/hide][hide]WoW Archivist: Recapping classic World of Warcraft[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 27 Sep 2011 13:00:00 EST. Lichborne: A look at the death knight tier 13 set bonuses

[hide][/hide]
Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Lichborne[/hide] for [hide]blood[/hide], [hide]frost[/hide], and [hide]unholy[/hide] death knights. In the post-Cataclysm era, death knights are no longer the new kids on the block. Let’s show the other classes how a hero class gets things done.

We got a nice bit of weekend news a few days ago, as Zarhym unveiled the [hide]tier 13 class set bonuses[/hide] for all to see. Tier 13, of course, will come to us with [hide]patch 4.3[/hide]. They’ve definitely provoked a lot of discussion and debate, and the death knight bonuses are no exception. Unfortunately, the early consensus on the status of the bonuses leans toward «failed experiment.» After the break, we’ll delve in a bit deeper and discuss how the bonuses fail and succeed.[hide]Continue reading Lichborne: A look at the death knight tier 13 set bonuses[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Death Knight[/hide], [hide](Death Knight) Lichborne[/hide][hide]Lichborne: A look at the death knight tier 13 set bonuses[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 27 Sep 2011 14:00:00 EST. Totem Talk: Restoration tier 13 set bonuses and Firelands nerf

[hide][/hide]
Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Totem Talk[/hide] for [hide]elemental[/hide], [hide]enhancement[/hide] and [hide]restoration[/hide] shaman. Want to be a sultan of swing healing? A champion of Chain Heal? Totem Talk: Restoration, brought to you by Joe Perez (otherwise known as Lodur from [hide]World of Matticus[/hide] and co-host of the [hide]For the Lore[/hide] and [hide]Raid Warning[/hide] podcasts), shows you how.

So last week, we talked about the [hide]aesthetics of the shaman tier 13 set[/hide]. It is a pretty good-looking set overall, and it was very nice to hear what the community had to say about it as a whole. You guys certainly offered quite a bit of insight into how you view the set. We also took some time to make some speculative guesses as to what we might see in the next patch in regards to shaman healing and even discussed how the developers looked at healing as a whole.

Another week has come and gone, and it certainly has been full of excitement. We got our first glimpses of the [hide]restoration shaman two- and four-piece set bonuses[/hide] for tier 13, and I thought we could take a moment today to talk about that as well as what the current tweaks to the Firelands raids mean for you as a restoration shaman.

Oh, and in case you didn’t see in [hide]Sunday’s The Queue[/hide], that handsome dwarf shaman on the playing card is yours truly. I’ll freely admit that I squeed a bit when I saw that arrive in my inbox.[hide]Continue reading Totem Talk: Restoration tier 13 set bonuses and Firelands nerf[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Shaman[/hide], [hide](Shaman) Totem Talk[/hide][hide]Totem Talk: Restoration tier 13 set bonuses and Firelands nerf[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 27 Sep 2011 15:00:00 EST. Faction leader short stories continue with Sylvanas Windrunner

The [hide]leader short stories[/hide] continue with Sylvanas’ own tale of vengeance, loss, and coming to terms with the death of Arthas in [hide]Edge of Night[/hide]. Finally, we get to see Sylvanas ascend the Frozen Throne and come face to face with the broken and empty armor of the former Lich King, her pact with the Val’kyr, and the war front in Gilneas. There are lots of unexpected twists and turns, especially involving Sylvanas’ pact with the Val’kyr, that may not be exactly how we imagined things had actually commenced between the former allies of the Lich King and the leader of the Forsaken.

Personally, I think this is one of the strongest leader short stories, delving into answerable questions and giving us real, solid lore to fill in the holes in the story. Seeing Sylvanas’ grief and lack of focus after Arthas’ death was something I had hoped would be addressed, as well as the Val’kyr, both of which were discussed and explained. Check out [hide]the story[/hide], written by non other than Dave «Fargo» Kosak, and marvel at a new chapter in the Dark Lady’s story.

Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with [hide]patch 4.3[/hide]. Look at what’s ahead: new [hide]item storage options[/hide], [hide]cross-realm raiding[/hide], [hide]cosmetic armor skinning[/hide] and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing — from [hide]astride his back[/hide]!

Two Bosses Enter: Vanessa VanCleef vs. Daakara

In [hide]Two Bosses Enter[/hide], WoW Insider’s series of fantasy death matches, the bosses of World of Warcraft face off in the squared circle. Your vote determines who wins and claims the season title.

Lord Godfrey [hide]trounced[/hide] watcher Setesh in [hide]last week’s battle[/hide], cutting short the easily skippable combatant with a flurry of bullets and a cool-looking hat. Godfrey’s moves were too much for Setesh’s portals, void adds, and general titanic powers. Personally, I think it was the hat.

This week’s matchup is going to be a doozy. Vanessa VanCleef, one of the most popular contestants on Two Bosses Enter, is fresh off [hide]her win[/hide] against Hex Lord Malacrass, but who really expected Malacrass to beat VanCleef in a one-on-one fight? Not me, at least. Vote, minions!

The Daily Quest: Learnin’ stuff

WoW Insider’s on a [hide]Daily Quest[/hide] to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.

Man, sometimes I miss Schoolhouse Rock! When we were kids, my siblings and I didn’t quite get that we were being taught, you know, useful things. We just thought the cartoons were pretty cool and the songs were catchy, until we got to school and realized the songs actually had a point. They totally tricked us into learning! No fair!

Hey, completely off topic, but here are a few entertaining posts from around the blogosphere that are pretty cool and catchy.

[hide]The Bossy Pally[/hide] takes a close look at [hide]paladin healing numbers[/hide] and what it means if yours seem to be a bit low.

[hide]HoTs & DoTs[/hide] goes back to Steamvault, something that leads to some interesting thoughts on [hide]level design[/hide].

Spiritual Guidance: A first look at tier 13 set bonuses for holy and discipline priests

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Spiritual Guidance[/hide] for [hide]discipline[/hide], [hide]holy[/hide] and [hide]shadow[/hide] priests. [hide]Dawn Moore[/hide] covers the healing side of things for discipline and holy priests. She also writes for [hide]LearnToRaid.com[/hide] and produces the [hide]Circle of Healing Podcast[/hide].

Over the weekend, Blizzard released a [hide]preview of tier 13 set bonuses[/hide], which for priests means despite not having any idea what priest tier 13 is going to look like at the moment, we now at least know what it does. Exciting, huh? So as you can expect we’re going to take a look at the two-piece and four-piece bonuses today and give the lot of it a little analysis for discipline and holy priests. Let’s have a look, shall we?

Two-piece After using Power Infusion or Lightwell, the mana cost of your healing spells is reduced by 25% for [10|15] seconds (10 seconds for discipline, 15 for non-discipline).

Four-piece Your Power Word: Shield has a 10% chance to absorb 100% additional damage, and the cooldown of your Holy Word abilities is reduced by 20%.

Gold Capped: Preparing for and making money off of Patch 4.3

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Gold Capped[/hide], in which [hide]Fox Van Allen[/hide] and Basil «[hide]Euripides[/hide]» Berntsen aim to show you how to make money on the auction house. Feed Fox’s ego by [hide]emailing him[/hide] or tweeting him at [hide]@foxvanallen[/hide].

If the WoW economy operates according to the simple principles of supply and demand, then it should really be no surprise that new patches provide one of the most compelling opportunities for players to make a lot of money quickly. New patches bring previously inactive players back to the game and increase the activity of the rest of us. They increase demand. And increased demand is going to mean an opportunity to rake in cash — so long as we, as auctioneers, are prepared to meet that demand.

The news for [hide]patch 4.3[/hide] is coming at a fast and furious pace now, which means the actual launch of the patch can’t be too far behind. It also means we’re at the ideal time to start preparing for the patch 4.3 market — far out enough that materials are readily (and cheaply) available, but close enough that you won’t have to wait forever to get that money back.

What should be on your shopping list?[hide]Continue reading Gold Capped: Preparing for and making money off of Patch 4.3[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Economy[/hide], [hide]Gold Capped[/hide][hide]Gold Capped: Preparing for and making money off of Patch 4.3[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Mon, 26 Sep 2011 18:00:00 EST.
