Around Azeroth: A golden crown

[hide][/hide]
Has [hide]Khal Drogo[/hide] been skulking around Ironforge? ‘Cause it looks like someone just got a molten crown. [hide]Archidin[/hide] of [hide]Punish[/hide] on Alterac Mountains seems to be taking it a little better than the original recipient, though. Mmm … Game of Thrones. And True Blood. And Boardwalk Empire. Some days, I feel I just should rename this column to A Love Song to HBO Original Series and be done with it.

The Queue: XXL gilled burpito

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

This super-sized Queue is as filled with questions and answers as the title is with impenetrable in-jokes.

Nina Katarina asked:

The new Looking For Raid is going to be for 25-man size only. How many tanks, healers and dps slots do you think LFR will require? Most guilds run with 2 tanks, 5-8 healers, the rest dps. Will this end the reign of tank tyranny and make the healers the ones who get instaqueues?

I, for one, welcome our new spirit-stacking overlords.

Well, it’s interesting, because people complained that the Raid Finder won’t have a 10-man version, but what those people don’t understand is that the general distribution of roles among active WoW players is pretty damn close in ratio to the distribution of roles in an ideal 25-man group: two tanks, around six healers, and then the rest DPS. Whereas a 5-man group requires one tank for every one healer and three DPS, a 25-man group requires one tank for every three to four healers and 12 DPS. It’s a pretty elegant solution, I think. That said, there’s still a whole lot we don’t know about the Raid Finder, so it’s difficult to predict the impact it’ll have on the pet class/spec/role of your choice.[hide]Continue reading The Queue: XXL gilled burpito[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: XXL gilled burpito[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 23 Sep 2011 11:00:00 EST.

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm (их представят в России впервые), а также в World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

«Исследуйте мрачные подземелья Diablo III, которую жюри на gamescom в августе официально объявило лучшей компьютерной игрой, — говорится в сообщении. — Перевоплотитесь в Керриган – величайшую злодейку всех времен, по мнению читателей GameSpot – и отправьтесь на выполнение первых миссий новой кампании в предстоящем дополнении StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Ну и наконец, если вам еще не доводилось бывать в Азероте, который буквально вывернуло наизнанку после выхода последнего дополнения, то у вас будет великолепная возможность совершить экскурсию по World of Warcraft: Cataclysm».

Стенд Blizzard (А2) будет располагаться в 13-м зале 3-го павильона.

WoW Moviewatch: The Brewfest Anthem

Sphexius created [hide]The Brewfest Anthem[/hide] as an homage to everyone’s favorite WoW holiday: [hide]Brewfest[/hide]. The video is only a minute and a half long; it’s just a short anthem about drinking, the holiday, and more drinking.

The music felt a little off, but I actually think that was a good thing. If you’ve ever been to an actual Oktoberfest celebration, you know that the singing in this video is about a billion times better than that of a crowd of drunken sots trying to keep a melody.

The lyrics felt pretty close to a legitimate drinking song, so I think Sphexius nailed the vibe very well.

Around Azeroth: Hey, death knight, leave them kittens alone

[hide][/hide]
«After a reasonably messy kill on Atramedes, I wandered out of the boss chamber to find our resident kitty druid, [hide]Soty[/hide], with her cub,» writes [hide]Exravier[/hide] of [hide]The Mob[/hide] on Terokkar (EU-A). «This didn’t particularly surprise me as she had brought in the cub to learn how to hunt dragons (among other things.) From what I could gather between growls and purrs, she was educating her cub in the finer points of stalking prey, especially prey that is much larger than she was. I took a picture of the moment for the guild’s photograph book, but Soty was not impressed with the invasion of her offspring’s privacy. She promptly pounced and began to give her cub a demonstration of how to maul a blood death knight. Needless to say, it hurt, and it took the other tank plus a rogue using Evasion to get her off of me. I just hope she doesn’t see this photo getting posted online.»

The Queue: Zombie goasts, leave this place

[hide]Rossi, Alex and I[/hide] were talking about the DotA 2 leak that included some Half Life 2: Episode 3 strings that were most likely just Valve’s trolling the fans a bit, as we have been anticipating the news of a new Half Life for some time now. There’s some pretty amazing fan fiction out there, but none is as thrilling and amazing as the Half Life: Full Life Consequences series of stories featuring Gordon Freeman’s brother John Freeman. Personally, I hope that Half Life 2: Episode 3 is as good as Full Life Consequences. It is time for me to live up to my name and face Full Life Consequences.

Also, I promised certain artistic friends that I would post a new art challenge in The Queue when I was given the reins, in the same vein in which Alex posted his paladin bubble art thing, which turned out to be exceedingly awesome. So, here’s mine: Rossi and I are totally DPS warrior bro’s Horde-side now, raiding together and generally topping charts and taking names. You should totally draw Rossi’s male Tauren warrior and my female Blood Elf warrior doing their best bro-fist.

Skozz asked:

Will I be able to transmogrify my head piece into the Chef’s Hat? It’s blue and looks like it gives an armor bonus, but it has no specific type (Cloth, Leather, Mail, Plate).

Probably not. [hide]Chef’s Hat[/hide] would fall under two of the [hide]exceptions/rules for transmogrification[/hide]. First, you can only transmog gear that has stats on it over just armor. Second, many «funny» or «silly» items have been excluded from transmog, including fish daggers, fishing poles, and most likely the Chef’s Hat. Sad, I know.[hide]Continue reading The Queue: Zombie goasts, leave this place[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: Zombie goasts, leave this place[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 22 Sep 2011 11:00:00 EST. WoW Moviewatch: Bitten

[hide]Croftzi’s[/hide] previous video, [hide]Edge of Glory[/hide], was a fun romp featuring music from Lady Gaga. While that was a fun bubblegum romp of pop music, Croftzi stepped up her game by approaching the gothic genre of Worgen.

[hide]Bitten[/hide] is a fairly simple plot for a video. A female Blood Elf seems to carry the wolfen curse of Gilneas. Her boyfriend shows up, does some dramatic posing (as Blood Elves are wont to do ), and then finally gets bitten by the woman. I’ll avoid spoiling the video, but here’s a hint: Nobody dies.

I liked Bitten, even though I think the plot could have used a little more exposition. While the video is fun, I hope to see the plot moved forward in additional videos.

Scattered Shots: Hunters and Brewfest loot

Every Thursday, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Scattered Shots[/hide] for [hide]beast mastery[/hide], [hide]marksmanship[/hide] and [hide]survival[/hide] hunters. Frostheim of [hide]Warcraft Hunters Union[/hide] uses logic and science (mixed with a few mugs of Dwarven stout) to look deep into the hunter class. Mail your hunter questions to [hide]Frostheim[/hide].

It’s that magical time of year again when the thoughts of young hunters the world over turn to beer. [hide]Brewfest[/hide] is a true Dwarven holiday filled with endless events like drinking beer, delivering beer, advertising beer, and fighting with beer mugs. Brewfest is, in fact, the one holiday that I participate in since I knocked off the painful What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been.

With a new year of Brewfest comes new loot upgrades from the Brewfest boss, Coren Direbrew. I’m not really sure what Direbrew did to deserve our wrath, other than being Dark Iron. I mean, sure, his peeps started a big fight and tried to steal the beer, but really, who wouldn’t if they weren’t allowed to attend? It’s not like he’s the Mad Elf or anything.

Brewfest loot has never been the friendliest to hunters, with the totally awesome and upgraded [hide]Tremendous Tankard o’ Terror[/hide] being a silly mace that hunters cannot equip, and no two-handed drop (which is what we really want). However Brewfest does bring us a nice trinket option as well as a one-handed weapon that we could use.

Today we’ll take a look at the Brewfest loot from a hunter perspective and perhaps take a wee peek at some of the nice generic rewards offered from Brewfest tickets.[hide]Continue reading Scattered Shots: Hunters and Brewfest loot[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Hunter[/hide], [hide](Hunter) Scattered Shots[/hide][hide]Scattered Shots: Hunters and Brewfest loot[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 22 Sep 2011 13:00:00 EST. 15 Minutes of Fame: Care packages spur renaissance of community spirit

From Hollywood celebrities to the guy next door, millions of people have made World of Warcraft a part of their lives. How do you play WoW? We’re giving each approach its own [hide]15 Minutes of Fame[/hide].

All we need to introduce the topic of this week’s 15 Minutes of Fame is a simple realm name: Moon Guard. Aha! I see some of you out there have been paying attention … That’s right, Moon Guard’s the realm with the reputation for, shall we say, a somewhat more [hide]exotic (or was that erotic?) playstyle[/hide]. Ready to go behind the scenes with a leading realm figure who’ll give us the inside scoop on what really goes down on Moon Guard?

Well, hang on there, Hoss — because this ain’t yo’ mama’s Moon Guard (or even your creepy Uncle Harold’s). This is a decidedly more respectable Moon Guard. This is a Moon Guard that helps out new players with free care packages, no strings attached. This is a Moon Guard that’s building an entire YouTube channel to spotlight interesting realm personalities. This is a Moon Guard whose players josh around with an in-character advice column run by a goblin. This is a Moon Guard boasting a recent player-run roleplaying event that virtually exploded onto the [hide]forum scene[/hide].

Meet Venita, who’s spurred on a huge part of this renaissance of community spirit with a wildly popular care package program for realm newbies plus an upcoming community spotlight program making its debut next month on YouTube.
