Breakfast Topic: How would you design a true hybrid role?

[hide][/hide]
This [hide]Breakfast Topic[/hide] has been brought to you by [hide]Seed[/hide], the AOL guest writer program that brings [hide]your words[/hide] to WoW Insider’s pages.

Lately there has been a lot of talk in the World of Warcraft about the state of the holy trinity of class roles in the game. There have been talks on whether to add extra support roles such as CC classes to a list of available roles (this being difficult due to the hurry-up-and-grind mentality of much of the community). My thoughts for the day are what I see as a potential revamp in the way the game currently handles hybrids.

I have always been a fan of bizarre specs. In Wrath, I had a dual-wielding resto shaman who utilized Maelstrom weapon procs to churn out instant Chain Heals to the group while maintaining a semi-respectable DPS output. When Cataclysm came out, I was thrilled at the aspect of an priest Atonement build to churn out DPS while aiding the group with a few smart heals. Once again, the Holy Trinity reared its ugly head, and I realized that due to being a disc build, I would be forced into a healing-only role with DPS in the downtime.

If you could change any mechanic for a class to facilitate the ability to perform a true hybrid playstyle, what would it be? One example I can personally think of would be change the balance druid Eclipse mechanic to boost healing done while under an increase to nature damage. This would not apply to Moonkin form due to casting restrictions in form, but this would lead to easier balancing as well. Stick to boomkin to nuke out DPS, or stay in caster to throw out some solid, boosted heals.

What would you change up to make hybrids more hybrid-y?

Around Azeroth: ‘Tis not too late to seek a newer world

[hide][/hide]
Hello. Azerothian Automobile Association? I need a little help figuring out my location. Yes, I know that I have «The Explorer» as a title, but that’s merely an attempt at a pun rather than an accurate assessment of my navigation abilities. My hearthstone’s on cooldown, the only map I’ve got seems to be covered in tears and bloodstains rather than text, and if I don’t make it to this guild meeting I’m not raiding for a month. I’m somewhere between the golden fish statue and the archway with the evil octopus. Get me out of here! (Thanks to [hide]Dra[/hide] of [hide]Downfall[/hide] on Boulderfist [US-H] for the screenshot.)

The Queue: Lodur, Herald of the Elements

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

Looks like our good friend [hide]Joe Perez[/hide] has finally made it big, if this card from the preview event for the [hide]WoW TCG[/hide] Throne of the Tides expansion has anything to say about it. Congratulations, Joe. Seriously, you even got Jonboy Meyers as your artist.

Lastgaurdian asked:

Has WoWinsider ever considered reaching out to role-play servers a bit? I find that Know Your Lore and All The World’s a Stage is quite helpful for knowledge, but I feel that some communities and guilds therein could use a lot of help and WoWinsider is a strong enough force to do that.

Well, roleplaying is the task of the roleplayer, and our RP column is pretty much all we can do to «reach out» to roleplayers. [hide]AtWaS[/hide] covers a lot of ground; I don’t really feel like it’s lacking for much in terms of content. The rest is up to you.[hide]Continue reading The Queue: Lodur, Herald of the Elements[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: Lodur, Herald of the Elements[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sun, 25 Sep 2011 12:00:00 EST. В патче 4.3 к WoW разбойники станут бэтменами

[hide][/hide]

Breakfast Topic: What was your first raid experience?

[hide][/hide]
This [hide]Breakfast Topic[/hide] has been brought to you by [hide]Seed[/hide], the AOL guest writer program that brings [hide]your words[/hide] to WoW Insider’s pages.

After reaching max level for the first time in Wrath of the Lich King, I started to really enjoy heroic 5-man dungeons. I’d heard of raids and seen them forming in trade chat, but I was terrified to try my hand at them. I was tanking the 5-mans, and while they were generally pretty easy, I didn’t like the thought that my performance as a tank could make or break a run for others.

Finally, after gathering enough gear, I applied to an ad for the weekly raid quest to kill [hide]Lord Marrowgar[/hide]. We zoned in and the other tank started pulling the opening trash. I wasn’t sure what exactly to do, so I just hung near him and tried to attack what he did. Then I was asked to make a pull. Having recently facerolled several heroics, I threw my Avenger’s Shield into some mobs and charged in. I quickly discovered that this trash was not the same as 5-man trash.

After being kicked from the raid, I licked my wounds until the expansion was in its waning days. Eventually, I joined another guild’s raid and made it all the way to tank the Lich King himself. I didn’t get the kill, but I discovered that raiding could be fun. Along the way, I found a new guild to call home.

So what was your first raid experience? What were you feeling when you first stepped into the raid? How did it go? Did it make you invest in raiding more heavily or dissuade you from doing it ever again?

The Queue: Dollars to donuts

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

Besides being a fun phrase to use, it’s also a regular conversion I make at the Donut Star down the road.

Hal asked:

Any idea why the tuning on the new Brewfest trinkets is so odd? I’m specifically thinking of the stamina trinkets, which are both ilvl 365, but objectively worse than other similar trinkets.

The Brewfest trinkets drop off of a boss that you can kill an unlimited number of times per day. It would be a little bit silly to have them be truly comparable to items that require you to kill raid bosses.[hide]Continue reading The Queue: Dollars to donuts[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: Dollars to donuts[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sat, 24 Sep 2011 12:00:00 EST.
