World of Warcraft «For the Horde» и «Ensidia» проведут показательные выступления в рейдах.

WoW Moviewatch: The Firelands!

[hide]The Firelands![/hide] is a montage of the new raid instance from [hide]patch 4.2[/hide], called … [hide]the Firelands[/hide]. (So it’s not just a clever name for a movie.) Raid videos aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but this is spectacular first look at the raid animations for folks who haven’t gotten inside the instance yet.

This particular raid video does a great job of spicing up footage with cinematic cutscenes, blending action together, and otherwise focusing on characters and viewpoints. These techniques are especially interesting, because raid videos are usually plain boring. Even someone like me, who loves raiding, can get bored staring over someone else’s shoulders.

Thanks to [hide]Rich Maloy[/hide] from Big Crits for the heads up!

Know Your Lore: Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem

The World of Warcraft is an expansive universe. You’re playing the game, you’re fighting the bosses, you know the how — but do you know the why? Each week, [hide]Matthew Rossi [/hide]and [hide]Anne Stickney[/hide] make sure you [hide]Know Your Lore[/hide] by covering the history of the story behind World of Warcraft.

He befriends those who might be his enemies, yet he is unafraid to strike down those who harm his people, his students, even his allies. Elderly, he has but recently become a druid; his meteoric rise to the rank of Archdruid is a testament to his strength of character and his sincere desire to achieve balance in all things. A childhood friend of Cairne Bloodhoof, in that worthy’s death, he has become the Old Bull of his people, even as Cairne’s son Baine has taken the role of leader.

Today, while Baine rules, it is Hamuul Runetotem who is the heart of the shu’halo, the tauren people. And he does not like what he is seeing.

Stevie Nix — Baine Bloodhoof: As Our Fathers Before Us

Hamuul shook his head as if to clear it. «We existed in a time before the coming of the orcs, if you’ll remember. Your father may have owed a debt to Thrall for all he did for our people, but this is a new Horde. I have heard whispers of other tauren. Some are wondering if this Horde is really something we should be a part of anymore.» He snorted. «The Horde has done much and we owe much to it, but you must admit that their sentiments are not completely without merit.»

[hide]source[/hide]

Hammul does not pretend to perfection, and while he is wise, he admits to all the shocks that flesh is heir to and all the emotion a [hide]shu’halo[/hide] can face dealing with the chaos of the world while attempting to honor the Earthmother.[hide]Continue reading Know Your Lore: Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Analysis / Opinion[/hide], [hide]Lore[/hide], [hide]Know your Lore[/hide], [hide]Cataclysm[/hide][hide]Know Your Lore: Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 13 Jul 2011 14:00:00 EST. The Light and How to Swing It: Basic retribution cooldowns — when to pop your wings

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]The Light and How to Swing It[/hide] for [hide]holy[/hide], [hide]protection[/hide] and [hide]retribution[/hide] paladins. With the Light as his strength, Durin Mundahl takes on the foes of Azeroth with all the wrath of a retribution paladin. Feel free to send your retribution questions or comments to [hide]durin@wowinsider.com[/hide].

Hello, my Light-wielding brethren. Let me start off by saying that all of this information applies to patch 4.2 and the current state of retribution paladins. In future patches, this information may become outdated. Use your own Judgement when reading. Some side effects may include increases of a few thousand DPS on target dummies and an overall feeling of ecstasy. Working as intended.

After my last article, I got a few emails asking basic questions about retribution paladins and how to play them. I get questions like What’s my rotation?, How is your damage so high?, and Why do you keep pulling aggro? pretty frequently. When I’m not trying to convince my guild it’s the tank’s fault I’m pulling aggro (even though it isn’t), I try to explain to people that the key to doing good damage nowadays comes mainly from cooldown management, much like a lot of other classes — but I’m not writing about mages or warriors here.[hide]Continue reading The Light and How to Swing It: Basic retribution cooldowns — when to pop your wings[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Paladin[/hide], [hide](Paladin) The Light and How to Swing It[/hide][hide]The Light and How to Swing It: Basic retribution cooldowns — when to pop your wings[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 13 Jul 2011 15:00:00 EST. The Classifieds: Old school, vanilla school

You often hear about people who hold up the old vanilla days of WoW, before any expansions were released, as some kind of holy grail. While I tend to think vanilla raiding pundits on the official pundits are wearing rose-colored glasses, the fact is that some guilds walk the walk that they’re talking.

[hide]Screams of the Past[/hide] is one such guild. Check out what Zwinkz had to say about their efforts:

We’re the only classic guild that has remained ‘pure’ when it comes to raiding. Meaning anything that was introduced after Classic is not allowed when it comes to raiding that includes Glyphs, WotlK enchants, and gems. We’re still bringing a great roster clearing all classic content available today including AQ40, 2 BWL Raids, 2 MC Raids a week, as well as AQ10. I feel we are the players that stand for a true classic guild.

While vanilla raiding may not be your thing, you certainly have to respect their dedication to the playstyle.[hide]Continue reading The Classifieds: Old school, vanilla school[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Classifieds[/hide][hide]The Classifieds: Old school, vanilla school[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 13 Jul 2011 16:00:00 EST. Encrypted Text: The subtlety experiment

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Encrypted Text[/hide] for [hide]assassination[/hide], [hide]combat[/hide] and [hide]subtlety[/hide] rogues. [hide]Chase Christian[/hide] will be your guide to the world of shadows every Wednesday. Feel free to [hide]email me[/hide] with any questions or article suggestions, or hate mail if you play subtlety.

Over the past few years, I’ve been accused of playing favorites with the rogue specs. During Wrath, I was characterized more than once as the [hide]ArP-mongering[/hide] combat rogue who neglected [hide]Mutilate[/hide] builds. In Cataclysm, I’m supposedly the devoted assassin who never gives combat or subtlety a fair shake. The truth is that I don’t care what spec I’m playing, and I’ll play whatever gives me the best results.

I played [hide]Mut/Prep[/hide], [hide]HARP[/hide], and even pure subtlety in the arena during The Burning Crusade. I’ve raided extensively as both combat and assassination, and I’ve leveled my rogues (plural) with each of the three specs, as well. I frequently swap specs. I love combat for solo PVE play, while subtlety holds a special place in my heart for [hide]ganking and world PVP[/hide]. I currently raid as assassination simply because it’s how I get the best results. I’m not alone in this philosophy, as most rogues will do whatever it takes, including a respec, to get the most out of their characters.[hide]Continue reading Encrypted Text: The subtlety experiment[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Rogue[/hide], [hide](Rogue) Encrypted Text[/hide][hide]Encrypted Text: The subtlety experiment[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 13 Jul 2011 17:00:00 EST. The Daily Quest: Making good points

WoW Insider’s on a [hide]Daily Quest[/hide] to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.

Hands up if this clip brought about a wash of nostalgia. The Point was a movie I saw multiple times when I was a kid — and each time, it had a different narrator, oddly enough. Looking back on the film’s history, it seems that the first narrator was actually Dustin Hoffman, of all people. Regardless, the weird little movie had a point about points and pointedly made them, even if it was in a roundabout sort of way.

Speaking of points, today we’ve got some good points made around the blogosphere about … well, points.

[hide]Kurn’s Corner[/hide] makes a few points about the valor point cap and the [hide]Zandalar heroics[/hide].

[hide]Jaded Alt[/hide] follows up by pointedly questioning how important it is to hit that [hide]valor point cap[/hide].

[hide]The Stories of O[/hide] points out that it isn’t exactly that hard to make that [hide]point cap every week[/hide].

Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Be sure to check out our [hide]WoW Resources Guide[/hide] for more WoW-related sites.

Spiritual Guidance: What’s the best race for a Horde shadow priest?

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Spiritual Guidance[/hide] for [hide]discipline[/hide], [hide]holy[/hide] and [hide]shadow[/hide] priests. On Wednesdays, shadow priesting expert [hide]Fox Van Allen[/hide] rains down sheer purple destruction on all who oppose him (but he does so with love!). Fox encourages you to [hide]follow him on Twitter[/hide].

A few weeks ago, I ran an article called «[hide]What Alliance race is best for shadow priests[/hide]?» And man, did I get my ass flamed for doing it. A whole bunch of you complained that I was too hard on Team Blue, that a Horde sympathizer such as myself had no business writing such a thing. Just a small sampling of the fun comments:

Wow arent you a tool. Why not throw in some Justine Bieber, George Bush, McDonalds, and whatever else is popular to hate bashing in there to get the fanboy juices really flowing?

To answer the question, yes, I am a tool. That still doesn’t change the fact that gnomes are the worst thing to happen since that time I saw Justine (sic) Bieber and George Bush eating at a McDonald’s. With Gary Coleman? In a Suburu? Remember that, Lois?

Anyway, follow me after the break. There aren’t any Family Guy cutaways, I promise. We do kill off and eat a weatherman, though. So there’s that.[hide]Continue reading Spiritual Guidance: What’s the best race for a Horde shadow priest[/hide]?Filed under: [hide]Priest[/hide], [hide](Priest) Spiritual Guidance[/hide][hide]Spiritual Guidance: What’s the best race for a Horde shadow priest[/hide]? originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 13 Jul 2011 20:00:00 EST.
