Drama Mamas: The case of the reluctant temporary guild leader

[hide]Drama Mamas[/hide] Lisa Poisso and Robin Torres are experienced gamers and real-life mamas — and just as we don’t want our precious babies to be the ones kicking and wailing on the floor of the checkout lane next to the candy, neither do we want you to become known as That Guy on your realm.

Don’t let our own guild get run by anyone else but you. Anyone else but you. Anyone else but you. No, no, no!

Hi there,

My wife is our guild leader, and as such, I am kind of the co leader when she is gone for her deployments (usually about 4 months). we both love to play WoW, after all we met on WoW, found out we have common interest out side of the game, got married, had a child, and continued to play WoW. So here is the issue.

We started our own guild because we were tired of the drama, the headaches of hardcore raiding, and the general snobbery that was associated around us. And our little guild prospered. Then my wife was deployed for 5 months, and I had the reigns of the guild (along with my brother). And under our guidance the guild grew in to a 25 man raiding guild that did endgame content, but we still kept it casual and friendly.[hide]Continue reading Drama Mamas: The case of the reluctant temporary guild leader[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Analysis / Opinion[/hide], [hide]Guilds[/hide], [hide]Drama Mamas[/hide][hide]Drama Mamas: The case of the reluctant temporary guild leader[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 22 Jul 2011 09:00:00 EST. Around Azeroth: Way down in the hole

[hide][/hide]

Submitter [hide]Nubeushagrid[/hide] of [hide]TokEez[/hide] on Scilla (US-A) recently made an emergency trip to Deepholm to plead for the life of archaeology trainer and shameless, lazy rip-off of a character Harrison Jones. Apparently, Jones was caught prospecting for artifacts in the sleeping body of an earth elemental and had to face the judgment of Jabba Therazane. Jones escaped punishment, but Nubeus seems to suspect that the use of illicit substances played a part in the Stonemother’s decision. He writes, «The fact that Therazane seemed to have turned her ‘Hutt’ into a rave hall probably had a lot to do with her receptive mood.»

The Queue: Super-Soldier-sized edition

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

Looks like Captain America is getting good reviews, so I am beyond pumped to see it. Finally, an outlet for my all-consuming man crush on Chris Evans. In honor of his bulking up for the role, I have bulked up The Queue today. Enjoy!

KrazyKorean728 asked:

As we’re getting towards the time when we can complete all the Molten Front achievements, my question is about the achievement «Ready for Raiding II.»

We access the Lieutenants of Flame by recruting both the Wardens, Druids & the Ancients. We get to fight against the Lieutenant as the last quest named «Strike at the Heart.» Does the Lieutenant change based upon which groups quests you do (i.e. if I do the Wardens, is there one set of Lieutenants that will spawn with them versus which ones spawn with the Druids)?

There’s a random lieutenant each day, and which one spawns is entirely unrelated to the dailies you choose to complete.[hide]Continue reading The Queue: Super-Soldier-sized edition[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: Super-Soldier-sized edition[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 22 Jul 2011 11:00:00 EST. WoW Moviewatch: Battle of the Blues

[hide]Myndflame[/hide] has created a fun, unique idea for getting official Blizzard posts out to the community. In Myndflame’s new series, the «[hide]insane voice actor[/hide]» reads blue posts out loud. It’s a pretty great idea, in my opinion, since it brings a level of entertainment to what can sometimes be rather dry information.

The idea has really caught on, and even the community managers have gotten in on the fun. The result is that Myndflame took the recent [hide]Battle of the Blues[/hide] and turned the banter into its own video.

This performance blew me away. It was hilarious. I’ve not laughed so hard at forum interaction since the last ret paladin nerf. The video isn’t long; take the time to check it out and enjoy the fun. For the record, that is exactly the way I’ve always imagined Neth and Zarhym speaking.

Make sure to keep checking out [hide]Myndflame[/hide] for future installments. It’s definitely worth your time.

Ready Check: WoW Insider’s guide to Beth’tilac

[hide]Ready Check[/hide] helps you prepare yourself and your raid for the bosses that simply require killing. Check back with Ready Check each week for the latest pointers on killing adds, not standing in fire, and hoping for loot that won’t drop.

Thus far in our adventures, we have tackled the Firelord’s finest hunter Shannox and toppled another member of the «royal» family, [hide]Lord Rhyolith[/hide]. This week, we zip clear across to the other side of the map in order to fling ourselves against the mother of all Lava Spiders. As the matriarch or the Cinderweb Brood, Beth’tilac has created and cares for a massive web network that spans a large portion of the west sector of the Firelands. Here, she and her children capture and feed off of other fire elementals.

Seemingly, this is a bad thing, but despite being lavavores, the Cinderweb Brood seems to have at least a partial relationship with Ragnaros, often joining his forces in the field of battle. Perhaps the newly christened fire druids have something to do with this? Regardless, she’s got loot, and we’re here to take it from her! Let’s get started.[hide]Continue reading Ready Check: WoW Insider’s guide to Beth’tilac[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Raiding[/hide], [hide]Ready Check (Raiding)[/hide][hide]Ready Check: WoW Insider’s guide to Beth’tilac[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 22 Jul 2011 13:00:00 EST. The Queue: Tomorrow’s Friday — here’s a present from Rebecca Black

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky, senior Klingon expert, will be your host today.

Is it wrong that I’m cackling like an evil maniac?

No?

Great!

Amex asked:

I was going back and watching some old Star Trek recently and this led to a WoW question:

Did anyone else notice how the behavior of the orcish society with the focus on honor and battle seems totally lifted from the ST:TNG Klingons?[hide]Continue reading The Queue: Tomorrow’s Friday — here’s a present from Rebecca Black[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: Tomorrow’s Friday — here’s a present from Rebecca Black[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 21 Jul 2011 11:00:00 EST. WoW Moviewatch: Unlimited Escapism Vol. 5 trailer

All good things must come to an end, including the Unlimited Escapism series by the masterful [hide]Baron Soosdon[/hide]. This is the trailer for [hide]Unlimited Escapism Vol. 5[/hide], the final installment.

This trailer shows off the same hallmarks as the rest of the Baron’s videos. You can see his astounding eye for beautiful, engaging graphics as well as his tongue-in-cheek reflections on his own work. While this is technically just a trailer, it’s as beautiful and engaging as many full-length videos we’ve seen.

You can see the whole video [hide]here on Vimeo[/hide]. It’s worth every moment you watch.

World of WarCrafts: The musical stylings of Ember Isolte

[hide]World of WarCrafts[/hide] spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our [hide]Arts and Crafts in [/hide][hide]WoW[/hide] page.

Last week, we talked about [hide]rebuilding audio[/hide] found in World of Warcraft; this week, we’ve got audio rebuilding of an entirely different kind. Rather than giving in-game music and sounds a revamp, today’s guest takes modern day music and rewrites the lyrics to form parodies with a uniquely WoW twist. She’s been writing and producing parodies for quite some time now — [hide]Shut Up and Grind[/hide], a parody of Rihanna’s Shut Up and Drive, was uploaded to YouTube on July 21, 2009.

Exactly two years and plenty of songs later, the bubbly and ever-charming Ember Isolte is still busily creating music parodies — for WoW, and for other games as well. From the incredibly catchy Ninja Raiders to her newest release, Boomkin, Ember’s done nothing but improve in leaps and bounds. It’s crafting of an entirely different kind, and we recently had the distinct pleasure of sitting down and having a chat with Ember about music, lyrics, ideas and of course, World of Warcraft.

15 Minutes of Fame: No bank dust bunnies for in-game item collectors

From Hollywood celebrities to the guy next door, millions of people have made World of Warcraft a part of their lives. How do you play WoW? We’re giving each approach its own [hide]15 Minutes of Fame[/hide].

15 Minutes of Fame profiled the [hide]triple-threat collections[/hide] of Drrum last fall — an astounding trifecta of pets, mounts and armor sets painstakingly pieced together and then screenshot to dramatic effect in complementary in-game settings. Amazing stuff.

And since cool collections that come in threes seem to be such a good thing, we’re bringing you two more profiles of in-game collectors. This week, we’ll visit with Moonjade of Twisting Nether (US-A), who collects armor and lore items. Moonjade’s impressive collection of lore and legendary items make him a suitable ambassador for an entire subculture of players who collect various sorts of items during their game downtime. Then next week, we’ll crank up the specialization rating and round out our trio of collectors with an interview with a collector who actually manages and gives tours of a virtual museum of gray items.[hide]Continue reading 15 Minutes of Fame: No bank dust bunnies for in-game item collectors[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Interviews[/hide], [hide]15 Minutes of Fame[/hide][hide]15 Minutes of Fame: No bank dust bunnies for in-game item collectors[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 21 Jul 2011 14:00:00 EST. Scattered Shots: Hunter community resources

Every Thursday, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Scattered Shots[/hide] for [hide]beast mastery[/hide], [hide]marksmanship[/hide] and [hide]survival[/hide] hunters. Frostheim of [hide]Warcraft Hunters Union[/hide] uses logic and science (mixed with a few mugs of dwarven stout) to look deep into the hunter class. Mail your hunter questions to [hide]Frostheim[/hide].

Hunters are more than an amazing class; hunters are an amazing community. The hunter community is hands down the best class community in WoW. We have more intelligent and generous players willing to dedicate their free time to helping each other out than most classes have intelligent and generous players.

One of the great things about the hunter community isn’t just the quantity of hunter sites and resources out there, but the phenomenal quality of those resources.

Today, I’d like to highlight as many of those phenomenal hunter sites as possible. If you’re a regular reader of Scattered Shots but don’t get out across the rest of the hunter community much, you seriously have to check some of these sites out. And if you’re a die-hard hunter who can’t get enough hunter news, I bet I’ve even got some sites here that you haven’t heard of yet. Join me after the cut for the gateway into the best community in the game.[hide]Continue reading Scattered Shots: Hunter community resources[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Hunter[/hide], [hide](Hunter) Scattered Shots[/hide][hide]Scattered Shots: Hunter community resources[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 21 Jul 2011 15:00:00 EST.
