Орки и нежить никогда не станут паладинами в MMORPG World of Warcraft, [hide]заявила[/hide] Blizzard Entertainment. Отвечая на вопрос игроков о том, возможно ли это, он ответил кратко: «Nah jk». «Орки и нежить по своей природы злы, — затем добавил он, — поэтому Свет не дарует им свою силу».
Далее он отметил, что в WoW и без того уже много комбинаций рас и классов, которых не было во время старта игры. Игроки, по-видимому, хотели бы получить возможность сочетать все классы со всеми расами, однако Blizzard с этим не согласна, пытаясь удержать последние оставшиеся различия.
По мнению Blizzard, главной причиной невозможности создания сочетания всех рас и всех классов – большой объем работы по подгонке каждой части брони к каждой новой расе, причем для мужской и женской версии. «Не то чтобы это непреодолимо, — сказал сотрудник, — однако нам пришлось много дополнительно работать. Лично я считаю, что различия между сочетаниями рас и классов добавляет в игру больше реализма».

В [hide]специальной форумной теме[/hide] поклонники вселенных Warcraft, StarCraft и Diablo смогут задать свой вопрос художникам компании Blizzard Entertainment, которые примут участие в выставке BlizzCon 2011, которая пройдет 21-22 октября этого года в американском городе Анахейме, штат Калифорния. На вопросы ответят художники из разных отделов – от Гленна Рейна (цифровое рисование, креативная разработка) до Сэмуайза Дидье (традиционный стиль, StarCraft II). Submitter Dianne writes, «This was taken on Oct. 8 during the [hide]Seed Pink Gnome Run for the Cure[/hide] on Scarlet Crusade. My guildies and I attended and it was awesome. I have never seen so many gnomes! We ran all the way to Ironforge and then took the tram to Stormwind. From there we ran to Booty Bay in a giant mass of pink. The organizers of this fun event deserve some applause, because it was a great idea and drew a big crowd and hopefully got a lot of donations and attention.»

Let’s face it — most [hide]roleplayers[/hide] are heroes, villians, peerless veterans, or other Mary Sues. We want to feel awesome from time to time, and games let us do that. But after awhile, it gets old. Every guild leader you meet seems to be the head of a secret organization, the leader of one of Thrall’s elite group of warriors, or a famous mercenary group that, for some reason, only works for the Alliance.
But they’re not all like that. I’m not on an RP realm, but I’ve had a guildie who has been lightly roleplaying a simple Undead priest hell-bent on making babies with a Dwarf warrior. They both keep things within the game’s context — they don’t speak each other’s language but (not so) secretly try to meet up and communicate. It ends rather badly when the guilds shows up to kill the enemy lover, but the two still press on, shouting in Common and Orcish and emoting strange gestures in order to better try to express their love.
I’ve had people from RP servers try to get me to rally to their cause in the random Dungeon Finder, but they get shot down fast most of the time, and … well, the game already calls me a hero every other quest, so it’s lost its shine. However, when my guildie cries about seeing her potential Dwarven lover with another woman, then later finding out it was his evil twin, I can’t help but chuckle a bit and even do some very light roleplaying myself.
Have you ever met someone who RPed something unique? A seer who was always wrong? A farmer’s guild? A hard-working peon?

As for today’s submission, Absinth is a priest is a clear goal: make a healing user interface that gets rid of the clutter, put most of healer arsenal on [hide]VuhDo[/hide], and keep the screen free. Overall, I think the style and configuration works, but some players may be reluctant to give over so much power to a healing addon. Work warning: This video is based on a single ribald pun. While it’s not cursing per se, anyone who hears the song will get the innuendo immediately.
[hide]Kelly[/hide] recommended today’s staff favorite: [hide]The Captain’s Wife’s Lament[/hide]. Originally a song performed by [hide]Paul and Storm[/hide], it was transcribed into machinima form by Spiffworld. Spiff is known for his brilliant interpretations of JoCo’s work in video, and he gave the full treatment to The Captain’s Wife’s Lament.
The strength of the video is that it’s a short, single-theme joke. Spiff dives right into the innuendo, has fun with the video, and doesn’t artificially draw the video out any longer than needed. The Captain’s Wife’s Lament is fun and ripe for a quick laugh.
