Sunday Morning Funnies: Five hundred slaps ago

[hide][/hide]
[hide]Sunday Morning Funnies[/hide] is your weekly list of WoW-related web comics.

Now, I know that several of everyone’s favorite comics have been inconsistent or absent lately, so I thought I’d share some links to the artists’ explanations.

[hide]Fourth Wall[/hide]

[hide]Slash AFK[/hide]

[hide]Daily Quests[/hide]

[hide]WoW, eh[/hide]?

Also, Silkspinner of Complex Actions has hand issues, and Torment of the Week has been stalled due to health and wedding preparations. Unfortunately, no one makes these comics for a living; it’s all extracurricular. I’d like to thank all of the artists for doing what they do. Thank you!

That said, the list is still thriving, and we’re always ready to take referrals to more comics. Forward, ho![hide]Continue reading Sunday Morning Funnies: Five hundred slaps ago[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Analysis / Opinion[/hide], [hide]Humor[/hide], [hide]Comics[/hide], [hide]Sunday Morning Funnies[/hide][hide]Sunday Morning Funnies: Five hundred slaps ago[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sun, 09 Oct 2011 14:00:00 EST. The Queue: Boy

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

I’ve snuck in another music recommendation for this weekend. Don’t tell anybody!

FatherTouk asked:

If you are at a rank in your guild that requires an authenticator, and you remove it from your account, do you automatically get demoted to a rank that doesn’t require one?

You get automatically demoted upon logging into the game.[hide]Continue reading The Queue: Boy[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: Boy[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sun, 09 Oct 2011 12:00:00 EST. Изменения ювелирного дела и фамильных предметов на 4.3 PTR

В патче 4.3, находящемся на тестовом сервере PTR, изменены некоторые цены для ювелиров MMORPG World of Warcraft: Cataclylsm от компании Blizzard Entertainment, [hide]сообщает[/hide] mmo-champion. Это касается, в основном, необработанных камней дополнения Катаклизм:

— необработанные «uncommon», «rare» и «meta»-камни больше нельзя продать вендору;

— обработка камней «uncommon»-качества увеличивает их стоимость при продаже вендору, а выставить их на аукцион также будет стоить дороже;

— выставление на аукциона необработанных камней дополнения Катаклизм на 48 часов обойдется в 1 ед. серебра.

Кроме этого, отныне нельзя удалить персонажа, если у него в сумках или почтовом ящике находится фамильный предмет.

All the World’s a Stage: Plot points for Blood Knights

All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. In World of Warcraft, that player is you! Each week, [hide]Anne Stickney[/hide] brings you [hide]All the World’s a Stage[/hide] with helpful hints, tips and tricks on the art of roleplay in WoW.

Many roleplay guilds run with a theme of some sort, whether it’s a group of heroes all thrown together with a specific cause, a family or noble house, or even a rag-tag group of mercenaries. Those aren’t the only themes available to play, however. World of Warcraft has several different organizations established in lore, and some players choose to place their characters in those organizations. It’s a good way to root the character in the existing lore, but it’s also an excellent way to help define the character you’re playing. Due to popular request, over the next few weeks I’ll be addressing some of Azeroth’s major organizations and taking a closer look at each.

The Blood Knights of Silvermoon are a relatively new organization by Azeroth’s standards, formed for one purpose and now practicing another. Though it could be stated that their story began and ended in The Burning Crusade, that’s not exactly true. There are plenty of plot threads left hanging that Blood Knights can play with.[hide]Continue reading All the World’s a Stage: Plot points for Blood Knights[/hide]Filed under: [hide]All the World’s a Stage (Roleplaying)[/hide][hide]All the World’s a Stage: Plot points for Blood Knights[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sun, 09 Oct 2011 22:00:00 EST. WRUP: Come on, man, it’s the nineties

Going to BlizzCon? No? Why not? It’s the nineties! Everyone’s going to conventions these days!

Sure, it’s in Southern California, and for many of you, that’s a long way from home. But man, this is the nineties. They have planes now. And some of those planes even have air phones. You can hook up your 14.4k modem to one of those and connect to your favorite Warcraft 2 BBS. Maybe play a little Legend of the Red Dragon from 20,000 feet. Why not? It’s the nineties!

What’s that? You say it’s not the nineties — it’s 2011? Well, of course it is! I know exactly what today is. See this Casio digital watch on my wrist? It has the day, week, month, and year on it. Everyone’s got one — everyone, that is, who’s living in the nineties.

BlizzCon, the hottest event of the nineties, is coming up in a mere two weeks. So today, in addition to the usual question of «What are you Playing?» (Super Nintendo and Scattergories, obvi), I had our top-notch writers (many of whom have Tripod pages) answer a bonus question: «What terrific advice do you have for the go-go BlizzCon attending folks of the nineties?»[hide]Continue reading WRUP: Come on, man, it’s the nineties[/hide]Filed under: [hide]WoW Insider Business[/hide][hide]WRUP: Come on, man, it’s the nineties[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 07 Oct 2011 21:00:00 EST. Totem Talk: Enhancement shaman changes in patch 4.3

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Totem Talk for [hide]elemental[/hide], [hide]enhancement[/hide], and [hide]restoration[/hide] shaman. [hide]Josh Myers[/hide] once only tackled the hard questions about enhancement but has recently expanded his sphere of responsibility to all shaman DPS specs. (And no, two-handed enhancement is still never coming back.)

I won’t lie: The past few months have left me fairly disillusioned about playing an enhancement shaman. Nothing in Cataclysm will ever match the absolute horror that was the last patch of Wrath of the Lich King for enhancement. However, our total lack of scaling with secondary stats that aren’t mastery, horrific AOE DPS every patch, and our total lack of any form of worthwhile DPS cooldown have all been ingredients in the lukewarm dish that is enhancement. If this was Iron Chef: America, even Alton Brown would be hard pressed to make us sound good.

Thankfully, the 4.3 PTR is up, and with it comes some changes to enhancement shaman that have me excited.[hide]Continue reading Totem Talk: Enhancement shaman changes in patch 4.3[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Shaman[/hide], [hide](Shaman) Totem Talk[/hide], [hide]Cataclysm[/hide][hide]Totem Talk: Enhancement shaman changes in patch 4.3[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sat, 08 Oct 2011 14:00:00 EST. Arcane Brilliance: Optimizing your mage’s gear through Rawr

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Arcane Brilliance[/hide] for [hide]arcane[/hide], [hide]fire[/hide] and [hide]frost[/hide] mages. This week, we’re talking about what is arguably the game’s most trusted gear optimization program: [hide]Rawr[/hide]. Also, we’re planning to see how many times I need to type the word «rawr» before my spellchecker snaps and murders me through my computer screen.

Close your eyes.

Imagine, if you will, that you have a mage. Ha ha, of course you have a mage. Sometimes I crack myself up. Now imagine that your mage has gear, but that gear is not optimal. Now open your eyes.

Hello, every mage ever.

Yeah, chances are pretty close to 100% that no matter who you are and how religiously you play the game, your mage, beloved though he may be, does not have every slot filled with best-in-slot gear and does not have every item perfectly gemmed, enchanted and reforged so that your DPS is up to its fullest possible potential. WoW is a computer game — an old one, sure, but still home to millions of algorithms and formulas and computations and other math terms that I don’t fully understand. It would take, I firmly believe, a robot from the future to calculate all of those numbers and variables and turn them into something a human brain can parse accurately enough to actually benefit from.

Well, mages and magesses, I have recently contacted Kavan, one of the main authors of the ubiquitous gear optimization program Rawr, and I can tell you that he is that robot from the future. I only pray he can protect us from whatever other, more evil and technologically advanced robot from the future that might at some point follow him through the wormhole with a directive to kill our unborn children or something, because you know that’s what’s happening.[hide]Continue reading Arcane Brilliance: Optimizing your mage’s gear through Rawr[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Mage[/hide], [hide]Analysis / Opinion[/hide], [hide](Mage) Arcane Brilliance[/hide][hide]Arcane Brilliance: Optimizing your mage’s gear through Rawr[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Sat, 08 Oct 2011 16:00:00 EST.
