В этом году сражения развернутся в StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty и на Арене World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

Patch 4.2 hotfixes for July 12

Blizzard just updated [hide]patch 4.2[/hide] with some hotfixes for July 12. Most notably, the Ragnaros encounter at the end of the Firelands raid went through many changes due to the high-end guilds’ finally making it to his chamber. Ragnaros’ enrage timer was increased, portions of his platform that were being used to dodge mechanics were changed, and the extra phase on heroic difficulty was, hopefully, fixed. The Molten Front and the Regrowth daily questing areas were also hotfixed, with wounded Hyjal defenders now appearing wounded and those pesky Windcallers now appearing a bit more quickly (if you chose the Druids of the Talons).

Shifting Perspectives: The druid personality test

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Shifting Perspectives[/hide] for [hide]cat[/hide], [hide]bear[/hide], [hide]restoration[/hide] and [hide]balance[/hide] druids. This Tuesday, we are impressed by the scientific rigor of human interest publications.

So I was in line at the grocery store the other day when the array of magazines at the checkout stand caught my eye. Useless People Weekly was running a quiz that promised to tell you things you already knew about yourself if you would consent to answer several questions and tally the results.

«Huh,» said I. «What a marvelously scientific approach.» But it gave me, as they say, ideas.

If you’ve never played a druid before, are you interested in knowing which spec best suits your personality? If you play a druid, are you interested in being told things you already know about yourself?[hide]Continue reading Shifting Perspectives: The druid personality test[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Druid[/hide], [hide]Humor[/hide], [hide](Druid) Shifting Perspectives[/hide][hide]Shifting Perspectives: The druid personality test[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 21:00:00 EST. WoW Archivist: World of Warcraft patch 1.6

The [hide]WoW Archivist[/hide] explores the secrets of World of Warcraft’s past. What did the game look like years ago? Who is etched into WoW’s history? What secrets does the game still hold?

Patch 1.6 has probably one of the worst patch trailers in the entirety of World of Warcraft’s history. It’s not just that there are no fancy custom animations in the trailer; such things came way later — machinima was in its infancy, so Blizzard itself saw no reason utilize those techniques or perhaps didn’t have the resources. No, it’s not just that. It’s that there is a token effort somewhere in the video to build drama and epic suspense, but it is all shattered by the image of a member of the QA team leaping about like a spaz in the background while a Judgement-donning paladin tries to set a serious tone. It just isn’t happening. How good or bad the trailer was didn’t matter back in 2005, though. Back then, it was the most exciting thing in the world.

Interestingly, the trailer is surprisingly difficult to find at all in places like YouTube or other video hosts nowadays, seemingly moreso than other patch trailers from around the same time period. Patch 1.5 and patch 1.7 have sources aplenty floating around, but patch 1.6? It just seems lost and forgotten.

In addition to Blackwing Lair, patch 1.6 also delivered:

The Darkmoon Faire

Battlemasters to ease battleground queues

The implementation (and complete disuse) of a Silvermoon Remnant faction, high elves loyal to the Alliance, aggressive to the Horde — and never used for anything of note.

Ask The Devs: Healing answers coming Friday

The healer edition of the [hide]ill-fated Ask The Devs series[/hide] has been taking quite a bit longer than previous editions of the series. The healers among us took notice of that and hit the forums to find just what the heck was taking so long! Late last week, Blizzard’s Nethaera explained that the answers were delayed due to the devs’ being [hide]preoccupied with other obligations[/hide]. Today, community manager Kaivax announced that the answers would be [hide]released Friday[/hide] of this week.

Ask The Devs 11 Healing Answers Coming Friday

We will be posting a new sticky thread with the answers to thirteen of your most popular questions (on the subject of healing) on Friday, July 15th at 9AM PDT.

[hide]source[/hide]

That may the simplest, most straightforward blue post we’ve seen in nearly seven years of World of Warcraft. No qualifiers, no «Soon,» and no wordplay. High-five, Kaivax. You may be my new favorite.

Blizzard to talk licensing at San Diego Comic-Con

Blizzard tends to keep to its [hide]own convention[/hide] for most of the year, rather than taking part in other major conventions like E3, but it’s breaking form with product reveals and licensing discussion next week at [hide]San Diego Comic-Con[/hide]. Blizzard’s Chris Metzen, [hide]The Shattering[/hide] author Christie Golden, [hide]Cryptozoic Entertainment[/hide] President Cory Jones, and others will be present for a panel on Thursday, July 21 — that is, if you’re already lucky enough to be going to Comic-Con (say hi to Christie for me)!

Here’s the full panel description, which is also available on the [hide]Comic-Con website[/hide].

1:00-2:00 World of Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft Swag Show — Blizzard Entertainment creative and licensed partners unveil and discuss World of Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft-inspired products. In attendance: Chris Metzen (Blizzard Entertainment SVP of creative development), Nick Carpenter (Blizzard Entertainment executive art director), Christie Golden (New York Times bestselling author), Hank Kanalz (SVP Digital, DC Comics and World of Warcraft comics editor), Sean Gailey(creative overlord, J!nx Clothing), and Cory Jones (Cryptozoic Entertainment president and chief creative officer). Moderated by Kat Hunter ( host of BlizzCon coverage on DIRECTV). Room 6BCF

WoW Moviewatch: Sands of Uldum

You gotta love a good collaboration. [hide]Sands of Uldum[/hide] is the combined effort of [hide]Sharm[/hide], [hide]Letomi[/hide], [hide]CraigthePatient[/hide], and [hide]Tyranno[/hide]. It’s a mixed-genre music video featuring a little bit of harmony, a little bit of melody, and a little bit of rap.

Sands of Uldum has a lot going on in both the music and video departments. The lyrics and music play with innuendo and allegory, while the video mirrors that intricacy. This video was especially interesting to me because it felt experimental and fresh; the team was trying something new and attempting to push outside the usual comfortable boundaries.

Your opinions of the movie will no doubt vary; I can see why it might not appeal to some readers. That being said, I salute the team for its effort and look forward to what future collaborations might bring.

Interested in the wide world of [hide]machinima[/hide]? We have new movies every weekday here on [hide]WoW Moviewatch[/hide]! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at [hide]moviewatch@wowinsider.com[/hide].

The Queue: A year ago …

So I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about the past on WoW Insider (and my time working here). Let’s take a practical trip down memory lane, looking at what was going on a year ago today, July 12, 2010:

We all were in the midst of the [hide]real names on the forums scandal[/hide], including the accidental leakage of the emails of [hide]everyone who complained to the ESRB[/hide]. There’s only been a few other posts in my time that have had more impact on such a large scale as the ones concerning that scandal.

Another round of [hide]Cataclysm beta invites[/hide] were due out soon.

Mike Gray looked at the [hide]engineering profession in Cataclysm[/hide].

The [hide]Cataclysm screenshot of the day[/hide] was of Gilneas (I think, maybe T.B.).

Ghostcrawler [hide]was still posting[/hide].

The Breakfast Topic asked [hide]what constituted canon in WoW lore[/hide].

On July 12, 2009 (two years ago):

Preminition got the [hide]first U.S. Alone in the Darkness achievement[/hide].

Allie talked about [hide]how to get your blog crashed by WoW.com[/hide] (our identity at the time).

On July 12, 2008 (three years ago):

Wowhead added [hide]some hunter features[/hide].

We published a [hide]strategy guide for Mother Shahraz[/hide].

Daniel Whitcomb asked if the [hide]World of Warcraft really is World of Diablo[/hide].

On July 12, 2007 (four years ago):

[hide]Patch 2.2 hit the PTRs[/hide].

Tigole had some [hide]comments on the original ZA[/hide].

New loot cards [hide]came out for WoW TCG[/hide].

[hide]MazzleUI’s was examined[/hide], but by a different Matt than today’s Mat.

On July 12, 2006 (five years ago):

The [hide]servers went down for emergency maintenance[/hide] …

… and [hide]two new realms sprung up[/hide]!

WoW Insider started [hide]our existence on November 23, 2005[/hide], so we weren’t around six years ago. Man… it’s been a long time.

Chris asked:

I know there are ways to determine ‘total time played’ on a character, but is there any means of finding out when a character was created?[hide]Continue reading The Queue: A year ago ..[/hide].Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: A year ago ..[/hide]. originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 11:00:00 EST. Around Azeroth: Overlogging

[hide][/hide]
While cleaning out the Around Azeroth inbox, I stumbled around this screenshot, submitted anonymously during the days of Wrath. Remember how horribly overfarmed Sholazar Basin was? Remember how, when doing a circle around the exterior for Saronite Ore, you would always run into at least three other people in the same orbit? This is the inevitable result. Good thing that Uldum is already a desert wasteland, or it might meet the same fate.

Want to see your own screenshot here? Send it to [hide]aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com[/hide]. We strongly prefer full-sized pictures with no UI or names showing. Please include «Azeroth» in the subject line so your email doesn’t get marked as spam, and include your name, guild and server if you want to be credited.

Опубликован рассказ о Бейне Кровавое Копыто

Компания Blizzard Entertainment опубликовала рассказ Стиви Никса «[hide]Как наши предки[/hide]» о предводителе тауренов Бейне Кровавое Копыто из MMORPG World of Warcraft.
