WoW Moviewatch: The Firelands!

[hide]The Firelands![/hide] is a montage of the new raid instance from [hide]patch 4.2[/hide], called … [hide]the Firelands[/hide]. (So it’s not just a clever name for a movie.) Raid videos aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but this is spectacular first look at the raid animations for folks who haven’t gotten inside the instance yet.

This particular raid video does a great job of spicing up footage with cinematic cutscenes, blending action together, and otherwise focusing on characters and viewpoints. These techniques are especially interesting, because raid videos are usually plain boring. Even someone like me, who loves raiding, can get bored staring over someone else’s shoulders.

Thanks to [hide]Rich Maloy[/hide] from Big Crits for the heads up!

World of Warcraft «For the Horde» и «Ensidia» проведут показательные выступления в рейдах.

The Queue: The one with goombas

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. [hide]Alex Ziebart[/hide] will be your host today.

Today is a very special treat. We have your standard-length Queue, plus I answer a very exciting bonus trivia question that has nothing at all to do with World of Warcraft! But you will love it, my gamer pals. You will.

Camero asked:

In the past week, I’ve recieved four emails from «Blizzard» all asking me to do something in order to get a Winged Guardian License. I just wanted to confirm that’s not true.[hide]Continue reading The Queue: The one with goombas[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: The one with goombas[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 13 Jul 2011 11:00:00 EST. Around Azeroth: Phoenix down

[hide][/hide]
Did you think that [hide]garish pink songbird[/hide] hanging around Tempest Keep was the best phoenix that Warcraft could create? This giant firebird laughs at your presumption. Then it incinerates your Google Map printout of the directions to its lair. (Thanks to [hide]Nubeushagrid[/hide] of [hide]TokEez[/hide] on Scilla [US-A] for the screenshot.)

[hide]CCP partners with Nexon to release EVE Online in Japan[/hide]

The Japanese games market can be difficult for western companies to break into, with accurate client localization and translation acting as a huge potential roadblock. While we’ve known that DUST 514 won’t be as free as originally thought, there’s still hope for a true free-to-play version to come. Baine Bloodhoof leader short story now available

The tauren have witnessed great change within their own society and culture with the coming of the cataclysm, from political upheaval and great sadness to unbearable loss. With the death of [hide]Cairne Bloodhoof[/hide], the tauren people turned to his son, Baine, with reverence and hope that he would lead in his father’s footsteps and be as great a high chieftain. With the ascension of Garrosh Hellscream to warchief and the bonds that held the orcs and the tauren together stretching thinner, Baine must work through his troubles and the troubles of the tauren people and help hold the Horde together.

Baine Bloodhoof: As Our Fathers Before Us by Stevie Nix (not [hide]Stevie Nicks[/hide]) begins with Durotar in dire straights. The goblins, now fully members of the Horde, have gummed up the Southfury river and made the water undrinkable. Garrosh has come to Mulgore to work with the tauren to begin water shipments to Durotar of fresh, clean water. Attacks on these water caravans, now frequent, pose a huge threat to the survivability of Orgrimmar. Hamuul Runetotem does not let his emotions get in the way as he confides in Baine that his love for Garrosh is lax. Baine insists that despite Garrosh’s foolishness, the tauren are to remain as members of the Horde, just as his father had wanted.

Check out the full story, Baine Bloodhoof: As Our Fathers Before Us, for some intriguing and action-packed new lore about our favorite tauren’s son and his rise to chieftain.[hide]Continue reading Baine Bloodhoof leader short story now available[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Lore[/hide], [hide]Cataclysm[/hide][hide]Baine Bloodhoof leader short story now available[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 16:00:00 EST. Lichborne: Grab some new patch 4.2 pre-raid gear for your death knight

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Lichborne[/hide] for [hide]blood[/hide], [hide]frost[/hide], and [hide]unholy[/hide] death knights. In the post-Cataclysm era, death knights are no longer the new kids on the block. Let’s show the other classes how a hero class gets things done.

With [hide]patch 4.2[/hide] live, raiders have the [hide]Firelands[/hide] raid to get through, but casual players and non-raiders need not despair. You have your own little patch of Firelands to tackle, with a robust set of dailies that have the potential to unlock new gear upgrades. This week, we’re going to take a look at those gear upgrades, as well as some other stuff you can do to get your gear upgraded without killing a single boss in the new Firelands raid. Most of the stuff we’ll be discussing is ilevel 365, which means it’s only barely an upgrade (or possibly even a sidegrade) from ilevel 359 stuff — but if you’re still wearing ilevel 333 or 346 stuff, this should mean a pretty big leap in power for you.[hide]Continue reading Lichborne: Grab some new patch 4.2 pre-raid gear for your death knight[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Death Knight[/hide], [hide](Death Knight) Lichborne[/hide][hide]Lichborne: Grab some new patch 4.2 pre-raid gear for your death knight[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 15:00:00 EST. Totem Talk: A fresh take for elemental shaman in patch 4.2

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Totem Talk for [hide]elemental[/hide], [hide]enhancement[/hide], and [hide]restoration[/hide] shaman. [hide]Josh Myers[/hide] once tackled the hard questions about enhancement, but has recently expanded his sphere of responsibility to all DPS specs for shaman. And no, two-handed enhancement is still never coming back.

[hide]Sarah Nichol[/hide], our most recent elemental columnist, has been kidnapped by patriarchal Daleks loyal to Lord Voldemort after losing the Game of Thrones. Due to this, I, [hide]Josh Myers[/hide], enhancement shaman extraordinaire, have agreed to take on the Defense Against the Dark Arts-esque position of elemental columnist. Please welcome me as your benign, bovine overlord.

Now for why you’re really reading: [hide]Patch 4.2[/hide] hit approximately two weeks ago, and the game has changed for elemental shaman everywhere. Bringing us the Glyph of Unleashed Lightning, useful tier bonuses, and a [hide]legendary stat stick[/hide] that would make Gandalf jealous, 4.2 is looking to be the best patch of the expansion for elemental. Not that that’s hard, considering the competition.[hide]Continue reading Totem Talk: A fresh take for elemental shaman in patch 4.2[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Shaman[/hide], [hide]Analysis / Opinion[/hide], [hide]PvP[/hide], [hide]Raiding[/hide], [hide](Shaman) Totem Talk[/hide], [hide]Cataclysm[/hide][hide]Totem Talk: A fresh take for elemental shaman in patch 4.2[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 14:00:00 EST. Reader UI of the Week: Peripherals take center stage with Steppinrazor’s UI

[hide][/hide]
Each week, WoW Insider and [hide]Mathew McCurley[/hide] bring you a fresh look at [hide]reader-submitted UIs[/hide] as well as [hide]Addon Spotlight[/hide], which spotlights the latest user interface addons. Have a screenshot of your own UI that you’d like to submit? Send your screenshots along with info on what mods you’re using to [hide]readerui@wowinsider.com[/hide], and [hide]follow Mathew[/hide] on Twitter.

Reader UI of the Week is an interesting experience for me. There are moments of awe, moments of sadness, and (more than you probably would guess) moments of utter perplexity. Today’s submission from Steppinrazor features a peripheral that many players have been asking me to do a spotlight on: the [hide]Razer Nostromo[/hide]. Once developed by Belkin, the Razer version is the updated model, still created in partnership with Belkin but featuring spiffy new features.

Many people ask me about peripherals like the Razer Nostromo, and while I would love to have an answer for them about the usefulness of something like the Nostromo, I can’t give the best account. I’m a keyboard and mouse guy, through and through. However, there is nothing on the books that says I can’t bring in someone who seems to know what he’s doing with a peripheral as versatile as the Nostromo.

If you’ve got an interesting UI setup that features peripherals out of the keyboard-and-mouse box, let’s see them! Email your UI along with an explanation of your addons, setup, and other details to [hide]readerui@wowinsider.com[/hide]. The community will love you for it, I promise.[hide]Continue reading Reader UI of the Week: Peripherals take center stage with Steppinrazor’s UI[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Add-Ons[/hide], [hide]Reader UI of the Week[/hide][hide]Reader UI of the Week: Peripherals take center stage with Steppinrazor’s UI[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 13:00:00 EST.
