Totem Talk: Restoration shaman healing for Alysrazor and Majordomo Staghelm

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Totem Talk[/hide] for [hide]elemental[/hide], [hide]enhancement[/hide] and [hide]restoration[/hide] shaman. Want to be a sultan of swing healing? A champion of Chain Heal? Totem Talk: Restoration, brought to you by Joe Perez (otherwise known as Lodur from [hide]World of Matticus[/hide] and co-host of the [hide]Raid Warning[/hide] podcast), shows you how.

You’ve bested [hide]Beth’tilac and ruined Ryolith[/hide]. You’ve shot down [hide]Shannox and become the bane of Baleroc[/hide]. You’ve been making your way through the Firelands, killing bosses, collecting epic gear and carving a path to the final encounter.

Two more bosses stand in your way: one, an oversized legendary firebird who used to fight for the dreaming dragonflight, the other, a traitor to all of Azeroth, driven mad by the shattering of the nightmare and the realization that he could not bring his lost son back to life. It is now up to you to douse the flames of the bird and keep the cat occupied with a ball of yarn.[hide]Continue reading Totem Talk: Restoration shaman healing for Alysrazor and Majordomo Staghelm[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Shaman[/hide], [hide](Shaman) Totem Talk[/hide][hide]Totem Talk: Restoration shaman healing for Alysrazor and Majordomo Staghelm[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 19 Jul 2011 17:00:00 EST. Blood Sport: Finding your PVP playstyle in arena

Want to crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of their women? [hide]C. Christian Moore[/hide], multiple rank 1 [hide]Gladiator[/hide], examines the latest arena strategy, trends, compositions and more in [hide]Blood Sport[/hide].

I’ve found one of the most common excuses for not having an arena team is conflicting playstyles with past teammates. While often times these excuses are not really the problem (far too many arena players are self-centered and unreceptive to criticism), playstyle differences can be a factor in not meshing well with certain players.

I’d like to provide you with a few common playstyle differences, my take on which side of the spectrum is generally more popular, which side is generally better, and what I tend toward.[hide]Continue reading Blood Sport: Finding your PVP playstyle in arena[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Analysis / Opinion[/hide], [hide]PvP[/hide], [hide]Blood Sport (Arena PvP)[/hide][hide]Blood Sport: Finding your PVP playstyle in arena[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 19 Jul 2011 16:00:00 EST. WoW Archivist: Patch 1.7, Rise of the Blood God

The [hide]WoW Archivist[/hide] explores the secrets of World of Warcraft’s past. What did the game look like years ago? Who is etched into WoW’s history? What secrets does the game still hold?

As we go through the patches of classic World of Warcraft, you’ve seen all along that Cataclysm is essentially a sequel to the original game. Everything in Cataclysm ties into things that began all those years ago. The Twilight’s Hammer, Ragnaros and the other elemental lords, Nefarian and Onyxia … all of those things hearken back to the Azeroth of 2004 and 2005. It isn’t just the main plot of this expansion that ties back into the original game either — oh, no. The little side stories we experience and investigate tie back into the original game, too.

Today, we’re looking at patch 1.7 from September 2005. It is the patch that introduced us to Zul’Gurub and the Blood God Hakkar, both of which made their [hide]return just months ago[/hide].

In addition, patch 1.7 includes:

Arathi Basin

Stranglethorn Vale’s fishing event

Implementation of the dressing room

Debuff limit raised from eight to 16

Let’s explore, hm?[hide]Continue reading WoW Archivist: Patch 1.7, Rise of the Blood God[/hide]Filed under: [hide]WoW Archivist[/hide][hide]WoW Archivist: Patch 1.7, Rise of the Blood God[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 19 Jul 2011 15:00:00 EST. What’s happening in the Whispering Forest?

Every now and then, an Easter Egg is found in game. Blizzard loves its pop culture references, secret nooks and crannies, and everything in between. Recently, this popped up: a secret grove, hidden in the Whispering Forest of Western Tirisfal.

While it’s unknown when they spawn (I’ve heard every six hours or so, but I’m not sure), a troupe of faerie dragons slowly flies to this mushroom ring and begins to sing.

Tendrils of golden light flow and meet in the center of the circle, while ethereal music notes float all around. A beautiful little piece of music accompanies all of this, lasting about two and a half minutes. The infected animals of the Whispering Forest even come around to witness the performance. After they’re done, the dragons leave and despawn.[hide]Continue reading What’s happening in the Whispering Forest[/hide]?Filed under: [hide]Analysis / Opinion[/hide][hide]What’s happening in the Whispering Forest[/hide]? originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 19 Jul 2011 14:00:00 EST. Blizzard responds to Swifty ban incident

As you might have heard, Razer WoW gamer [hide]Swifty[/hide], along with numerous other players, were banned due to server disruption violations during one of Swifty’s live streams that crashed a server. While Swifty acknowledged that he never intended to crash the server, Bashiok responded to the bans by stating that even if no one intended to crash servers or disrupt gameplay, the emote spamming and influx of players brought down many servers.

Swifty livestreams events with his guild on occasion and even hosts parts of the stream himself. Being the WoW gamer celebrity that he is, his stream attracts a good number of viewers. His own [hide]YouTube video response[/hide] to his ban acknowledges between 4,000 and 5,000 people were watching his livestream. People flocked to the server, and the disruptions began. A number of players, including Swifty, were banned. Over the course of the day, Blizzard reviewed the information and decided to unban Swifty.[hide]Continue reading Blizzard responds to Swifty ban incident[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Blizzard[/hide], [hide]News items[/hide][hide]Blizzard responds to Swifty ban incident[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 19 Jul 2011 13:00:00 EST. WoW Moviewatch: The Edge of Glory

Croftzi created this [hide]Azeroth-themed music video[/hide] for Lady Gaga’s The Edge of Glory. While I am a reluctant Lady Gaga fan, this song never really wormed its way into my heart. It’s a fine song, as far as pop culture music goes, but it just didn’t have any particular beats or lyrics that captured my imagination.

This video, however, illuminated the song for me. Croftzi’s video is fun and engaging; it works well with the natural motion of Gaga’s song. It’s also nice to see a love story for a pair of trolls; somehow, we just don’t see many of those.

I’m excited to see more from Croftzi. This is my first real exposure to her work, and I hope it’s not the last.

The Queue: I’ve got TB on my mind

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft.

I’ve found myself doing TB dailies again. I have no idea why I’m doing them again. But I am, dammit, and it’s fun.

Next thing you know, I’m going to be doing the Skyguard stuff, too.

Levi-young asked:

I’ve always wondered if BoE’s always have a chance to drop or if there’s only so many that can drop per raid lockout. For example, let’s say my guild clears all the trash in Firelands w/o dropping any bosses and then resets the instance to do it all again. Will BoE’s keep dropping or will only so many drop for the lockout and then no matter how much trash is killed no more will drop?[hide]Continue reading The Queue: I’ve got TB on my mind[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: I’ve got TB on my mind[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Tue, 19 Jul 2011 11:00:00 EST. Around Azeroth: Around the campfire

[hide][/hide]
«It was always my dream to be a fire mage,» writes [hide]Aeton[/hide] of Silver Hand (US-A). «I was busy perfecting my Fireball when a creepy-looking dwarf came up to me and offered to help me hone my skills. He showed me to his house and explained that to become a fire mage, you must become one with the fire. He told me to lay down on the logs in his stove so he could light it. I noticed far too late that the fire was lit by an imp.» Darn warlock-versus-mage wars! When will the incinerations end?
