The OverAchiever: The gold coins of the Dalaran fountain

Every Thursday, [hide]The Overachiever[/hide] shows you how to work toward those sweet achievement points. This week, we finally get the last damn coin.

In response to some questions from last week, yep — we’ll be heading for some Firelands achievements after this (and the conclusion of [hide]our Mountain O’ Mounts guide[/hide]), but I did want to finish our series on the Dalaran fountain first.

The gold coins are arguably the most interesting of the bunch, or at least they concern most of the more significant lore figures in the World of Warcraft universe. As before, getting all of the coins will grant you [hide]A Penny For Your Thoughts[/hide], [hide]Silver in the City[/hide], and [hide]There’s Gold in That There Fountain[/hide], with the completion of all three granting [hide]The Coin Master[/hide] and one more notch toward [hide]Accomplished Angler[/hide].

If you’re looking for our two previous installments concerning basic information on the achievements and full descriptions of the copper and silver coins, you’ll find those here:

WoW Moviewatch: Theory of a Death Knight Wants to be a Tuskarr

This is an odd video from [hide]Myndflame[/hide]. Essentially, [hide]Theory of a Death Knight[/hide] spells out at a news conference why he thinks tuskarr should be a playable race. As is customary for the poor death knight, he gets eaten by a dinosaur.

I’m not sure I completely agree with the logic proposed by Theory of a Death Knight, since I’m not sure hauling around a spare tire should be a virtue. But I definitely agree that the tuskarr should be playable, because having tusks on the Alliance side would be spectacular.

The Queue: I have a WoW question for you, readers

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky, senior hops editor, will be your host today.

I’m turning the tables on you today. Let me ask you a question:

Know any good (or semi-good) Australian-time raiding guilds?

I’ve come to a point that it’s almost impossible for me to raid at night anymore (I think I signed the contract unknowingly when I proposed to the long-time girlfriend earlier this year), so a guild that raids down under would be perfect for me. I’ll buy you a few beers at our meetup if you leave me a suggestion that ends up working. And that’s LA-priced beers, too.

Jeremy asked:

Has anyone really speculated what will come in patch 4.3? Do you think blizzard will continue to release new heroics every other patch? The Classifieds: Civilized leveling while wearing top hats

[hide]The Classifieds[/hide] brings you weekly news from around the WoW community, including our famous Random Acts of Uberness shout-outs to players who make your WoW sessions memorable.

People constantly seek new and interesting ways to level up. The idea of leveling as a unique snowflake is attractive, and finding a particular quirk for your own gameplay adds a lot of depth to the game. We have another entry to the tome of interesting leveling:

I decided I wanted to do something similar with my 9th character I’d level to 85. I made a Warlock named Seduceyu on my main server, Khadgar, and leveled it all the way from 12 (when i got the worgen top hat) to 85 with the hat on the whole time. Was wondering if I was the 1st one to ever do this, or if there is a way to find out if I am the 1st to do this?

Well, intrepid readers, how about it? Do any of you know someone who leveled wearing a top hat the entire time? I find this particularly interesting, since I’m one of those folks who consider worgen who earned their [hide]top hats[/hide] to be the true Gilneans.

In other news, [hide]WowDataTooltip[/hide] is putting together an exciting internet gadget for WoW fans. Using the [hide]new API release from Blizzard[/hide], the tooltip displays character information when you hover over a link to Battle.net. That’s some pretty exciting stuff for the future.[hide]Continue reading The Classifieds: Civilized leveling while wearing top hats[/hide]Filed under: [hide]WoW Rookie[/hide][hide]The Classifieds: Civilized leveling while wearing top hats[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 27 Jul 2011 17:00:00 EST. Гильдия DREAM Paragon выложила видео ее первой в мире победы над героической версией финального босса рейда Огненных Просторов – Рагнароса в MMORPG World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

MMORPG World of Warcraft, [hide]сообщает[/hide] mmo-champion.

Paragon releases heroic Ragnaros 25-man kill video

Paragon earned the high honor of [hide]world first heroic Ragnaros[/hide] kill, downing the Firelord after over 400 attempts on his fight. Heroic mode encounters add something new and difficult to the mix, but it is rare that we see an entirely new phase to an encounter. Paragon’s heroic Ragnaros kill video shows the final stage of the fight, in which Ragnaros submerges into his lava pool and emerges at full strength, where his new legs allow movement all over the encounter room.

The final stage of the fight involves Archdruid [hide]Hamuul Runetotem[/hide], [hide]Malfurion Stormrage[/hide], and [hide]Cenarius[/hide] assisting the players in dealing with the entirely new mechanics this new heroic mode phase presents. If you’ve been trying Ragnaros or have killed him, you already have experienced the hilarious [hide]Living Meteor[/hide] ability. In this new phase, meteors must be kited over patches of ice on the ground to freeze them and then players must DPS down meteors to control the amount up at any time. Players are also frantically running around extinguishing ground fires and trapping Ragnaros in roots on the ground. All in all, it looks incredibly fun and challenging, and it’s very nice to see Ragnaros putting his new legs to good use kicking the crap out of guilds across the world.

My favorite part of the video has to be the end, with the custom death animation for Ragnaros. Watch until the very end — it’s worth it. Congratulations again to DREAM Paragon for their heroic first kill and for the awesome video of the accomplshment.

Review: Healbot now available for your iPad or iPhone

There is no shortage of World of Warcraft applications out there for your iPhone or iPad device. You can check and optimize your gear with [hide]Mr. Robot[/hide]; you can chat and play the auction house with the official [hide]Mobile Armory[/hide]; and you can protect your account from hackers with the [hide]Mobile Authenticator[/hide].

This week, you can add another app to that list: [hide]Healbot[/hide], a free, stand-alone iOS game that simulates World of Warcraft boss fights from a healer’s perspective. Your party takes damage; it’s your job to heal through it. If the boss hits zero before your party does, you win. Just like real life! Well, real life in Azeroth, anyway.

If the name app’s name sounds familiar, that’s intentional. According to the game’s developers, Healbot is «based on the mechanics of the Healbot mod in WoW.» But how does this simulation stack up against the real thing? And is it worth your dear, sweet, precious time?[hide]Continue reading Review: Healbot now available for your iPad or iPhone[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Add-Ons[/hide], [hide]Raid Rx (Raid Healing)[/hide][hide]Review: Healbot now available for your iPad or iPhone[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 27 Jul 2011 19:00:00 EST.
