WoW Moviewatch: Why Can’t I Raid?

We’ve featured [hide]Why Can’t I Raid[/hide]? a few times in the past. It’s a sharp parody of Rihanna’s [hide]Unfaithful[/hide], remixing the song into the perspective of a raider desperate to be included’s in her guild’s group. It was one of our first exposures to [hide]Sharm[/hide], who has since become nearly legendary in the machinima scene.

This is actually a [hide]recreation of the video[/hide] by Twilightpaladinus. This time around, the video focuses on a poor gnome warlock. There’s something sweet and undefinable to a gnome that lends an air of sadness to the video. While the video doesn’t use many of the fancier machinima tricks, it’s a fairly solid performance from a new creator. I hope to see more in the future.

The Queue: Panda-free

Welcome back to [hide]The Queue[/hide], the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.

This Queue is panda-free, just how I hope WoW stays.

Walkmann asked:

Question for the Queue, whatever happened to Southern Barrens (might have been Northern don’t remember) becoming like a world pvp zone?[hide]Continue reading The Queue: Panda-free[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Queue[/hide][hide]The Queue: Panda-free[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 04 Aug 2011 11:00:00 EST. Around Azeroth: The Lorax will not be pleased

[hide][/hide]

Destructive as they might be, wildfires are an important part of the life cycles of forests. They are necessary to clear out dead trees, thin the forest canopy and promote new growth. But you try telling that to a terrified, orphaned treant who has just seen his entire family go up in smoke. [hide]Agryus[/hide] of [hide]Vindictive[/hide] on Draka (US-A), [hide]Karcharos[/hide] of [hide]Disciples of Andraste[/hide] on Sentinels (US-A) and [hide]Schade[/hide] of [hide]Goddess[/hide] on Winterhoof (US-A) all sent in near-identical screenshots of these burned, non-despawning treants in the Firelands.

Addon Spotlight: Adding on to the Blizzard Raid Frames

Each week, WoW Insider’s [hide]Mathew McCurley[/hide] brings you a fresh look at [hide]reader-submitted UIs[/hide] as well as [hide]Addon Spotlight[/hide], which focuses on the backbone of the WoW gameplay experience: the user interface. Everything from bags to bars, buttons to DPS meters and beyond — your addons folder will never be the same.

One of the great joys of writing Addon Spotlight is watching the evolution of addons and their relationship to World of Warcraft over time and how the effectiveness and usefulness of certain addons wanes and waxes like the phases of the moon. Blizzard’s new raid frames have not replaced my own custom job, but they have been getting progressively closer to a complete package, as I discussed [hide]only a few weeks ago[/hide]. But there are ways, friends, of adding on to even the Blizzard default raid frame setup to give them just a bit more substance.

Today, I’ve got three little additions to the default Blizzard raid frames that can help you with targets, marks, and debuffs. If you like options, these addons will add a ton of them to the Blizzard standard setup, making the entire package look a little more like Grid. So sit back, relax, and check out these new additions to the Blizzard default raid frames.[hide]Continue reading Addon Spotlight: Adding on to the Blizzard Raid Frames[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Add-Ons[/hide], [hide]AddOn Spotlight[/hide][hide]Addon Spotlight: Adding on to the Blizzard Raid Frames[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Thu, 04 Aug 2011 09:00:00 EST. BlizzCon 2011 virtual tickets potentially giving out last year’s pet

Blizzard has posted that it is looking into an issue with players who purchased the [hide]newest BlizzCon virtual ticket[/hide] for the 2011 show. Some purchasers have received last year’s pet Deathy after purchasing this year’s ticket. Blizzard is looking into whether or not this should be happening; whether or not this was a mistake or a miscommunication, we do not yet know. It is safe to assume, however, that a new pet will become available for BlizzCon 2011, and purchasers of the 2011 virtual ticket should not be getting last year’s BlizzCon exclusive Deathy pet.

One of the perks of purchasing the BlizzCon virtual ticket is that players are treated to a BlizzCon exclusive in-game companion pet. In 2010, that pet was [hide]Deathy[/hide], a Deathwing-inspired version of everyone’s favorite murloc. As in every previous year, a new companion pet (or a mount, once) has been given to BlizzCon attendees. Players and purchasers were potentially confused, as the new pet for BlizzCon this year has not yet been announced. When Blizzard does announce this year’s BlizzCon pet, we’ll be the first to let you know.

Choose My Adventure Live: Questing in Winterspring

[hide][/hide]
[hide]Choose the adventures[/hide] of Robin Torres as Roblinator the goblin shamanator, or join in with [hide]It came from the Blog[/hide] on Zangarmarsh (US-PVE-H) every Wednesday at 1 p.m. EDT.

Today, Roblinator is questing in Winterspring, as per your votes. Though you and my normal band of enablers are welcome to come quest at the same time, I will be in my own group in the hopes that any «collect 10 Yeti bellybuttons» quests will go a bit more quickly. Since I stop to read the quests out loud, fall into crevices, get lost when I have no one to follow, etc., questers beginning when I do should be way ahead of me by the time I actually make it to the quest area.

So please join me in game or by watching the stream above and participating in the chat after the break. Also, I rant about battlegrounds later in this post, if that is of interest to you.

Update: The stream is now over. You can watch the [hide]video replay[/hide] by clicking on the image above.[hide]Continue reading Choose My Adventure Live: Questing in Winterspring[/hide]Filed under: [hide]It Came from the Blog[/hide], [hide]Choose My Adventure[/hide][hide]Choose My Adventure Live: Questing in Winterspring[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 03 Aug 2011 13:00:00 EST. WoW Moviewatch: Alliance vs. Horde: Firelands

The team over at [hide]TheWarpZone[/hide] has put together a new WoW-themed video. [hide]Alliance vs. Horde: Firelands[/hide] revisits the old Mac vs. PC format, although I really think of the Alliance vs. Horde series as its own creature; it’s working within its own mythology at this point and developing its own character.

I’ll admit the Horde had me going with its complaints about Ragnaros. Those sort of nitpicks and opinions are exactly the kind of thing we see in the official forums all the time, so I thought it was reasonable that might be the Horde’s editorial stance. The Alliance vs. Horde series is a lot of fun. I’m always interested in the head-to-head style and the lighthearted, amusing opinions each character espouses.

By the way, if you don’t follow TheWarpZone normally, jump back and check out this [hide]X-Men Born This Way[/hide] parody.

«Попугайчик» принес Blizzard 1.9 миллиона доларов

Blizzard Entertainment собрала за 3 месяца 1.9 миллиона долларов, продавая декоративного питомца «Детеныш кенарийского гиппогрифа» игрокам MMORPG World of Warcraft, [hide]сообщает[/hide] официальный сайт игры.

Blizzard[/hide].

The Classifieds: Celebrating world PVP

[hide]The Classifieds[/hide] brings you weekly news from around the WoW community, including our famous Random Acts of Uberness shout-outs to players who make your WoW sessions memorable.

Ahn’Qiraj: The Fallen Kingdom is a player-run event on Emerald Dream (US) to promote the idea of world PVP. It takes place on Aug 13 at 7 p.m. server time. If you’re not familiar with the term, essentially world PVP harkens back to the days when we didn’t have battlegrounds, arenas, or other fishbowl player-versus-player contests — just simple, random open warfare in the middle of the PVE zones. You can find out more about this event in the [hide]official forums[/hide]; this group is definitely hoping for a big turn-out.

In a whole different kind of news, Xander and Airielle of [hide]Pendragon[/hide] (Proudmoore US-A) put together this cover of [hide]Part of Your World[/hide] called [hide]Part of Your Raid[/hide]. Xander wrote the lyrics while Airielle performed it.[hide]Continue reading The Classifieds: Celebrating world PVP[/hide]Filed under: [hide]The Classifieds[/hide][hide]The Classifieds: Celebrating world PVP[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Wed, 03 Aug 2011 17:00:00 EST. The Daily Quest: Cha-ching!

WoW Insider’s on a [hide]Daily Quest[/hide] to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.

So, did you hear the latest about Diablo 3? Apparently, Blizzard’s going to allow players to purchase items on the auction house for [hide]real-life currency[/hide]. I am eagerly awaiting the day when my Diablo-obsessed friend puts his first collection of items up on the auction house and waits for the cash to roll in. Mostly to see the look on his face when he realizes everyone else playing the game is doing the exact same thing and remembers the basic rules of supply and demand.

Of course, the blogosphere is pretty chatty about this topic, so let’s take a look at some posts!

[hide]The Grumpy Elf[/hide] thinks this feature will eventually make its way to WoW and shares [hide]some reasons why[/hide].

[hide]Stabbed Up[/hide] stands up and asks who wants to be a [hide]professional gamer[/hide]?

[hide]Welcome to Spinksville[/hide] shares some thoughts on the [hide]upcoming Diablocalypse[/hide].

[hide]Procrastination Amplification[/hide] wonders what this will do to the [hide]psyche of players[/hide].

Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Be sure to check out our [hide]WoW Resources Guide[/hide] for more WoW-related sites.
