Gold Capped: Shattering Maelstrom Crystals

[hide][/hide]
Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Gold Capped[/hide], in which Basil «[hide]Euripides[/hide]» Berntsen and [hide]Fox Van Allen[/hide] aim to show you how to make money on the Auction House. [hide]Email Basil[/hide] with your questions, comments, or hate mail!

Patch 4.3 will bring with it the ability to [hide]shatter Maelstrom Crystals[/hide] into Heavenly Shards. This is unsurprising, as we have been able to shatter or transform the epic enchanting mats from other expansions. At this time, it looks like it will produce two [hide]Heavenly Shards [/hide]per [hide]Maelstrom Crystal[/hide], and since it’s not disenchanting, it’s unlikely to be affected by the [hide]guild perk[/hide]. This is going to be an opportunity for people to make some money, as well as provide a much needed sink for these Maelstrom Crystals, which have been piling up of late.

The market for Heavenly Shards is a little odd. In case you’ve forgotten, you can [hide]make one[/hide] from 16 [hide]Elementium Ore[/hide] and 8 [hide]Obsidium Ore[/hide]. Despite this being «common» knowledge, the price for these enchanting mats has a consistently high profit margin. Maybe it’s because of how long and annoying it is to turn ore into shards, or maybe it’s because of the large volume taken by the popular enchants this expansion.[hide]Continue reading Gold Capped: Shattering Maelstrom Crystals[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Economy[/hide], [hide]Gold Capped[/hide][hide]Gold Capped: Shattering Maelstrom Crystals[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 07 Oct 2011 17:00:00 EST. Ready Check: Handling raid drama

[hide]Ready Check[/hide] helps you prepare yourself and your raid for the bosses that simply require killing. Check back with Ready Check each week for the latest pointers on killing adds, not standing in fire, and hoping for loot that won’t drop.

Greetings, raiders. As we await more information to come down the pipeline, it’s time to sit back and reflect upon some of the more mundane issues that face raiders in the coming months. These past few weeks, we’ve been discussing various methods of loot distribution and how they work (or sometimes don’t). There are times where these systems can fail so badly that they cause loot drama within the raid. Other times, it isn’t as melodramatic as loot. Raids are nothing more than groups and people, and in groups, not everyone will always get along perfectly.

Raid drama is, at times, an unfortunate side-effect of being within a raid. While we all hope for the perfect raiding team that is without any issues at all, sometimes the worst comes to pass and conflict arises. These are the times that test the leadership skills of a group organizer. This week, we’ll go about discussing how to properly handle raider fallout.[hide]Continue reading Ready Check: Handling raid drama[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Raiding[/hide], [hide]Ready Check (Raiding)[/hide][hide]Ready Check: Handling raid drama[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 07 Oct 2011 18:00:00 EST. Shifting Perspectives: Balance druids at lower gear levels

Every week, WoW Insider brings you [hide]Shifting Perspectives[/hide] for [hide]cat[/hide] , [hide]bear[/hide] , [hide]restoration[/hide] and [hide]balance[/hide] druids. Balance news comes at you every Friday — learn how to master the forces of nature, and know what it means to be a giant laser turkey! Send questions, comments, or something you’d like to see to [hide]tyler@wowinsider.com[/hide].

Druids, moonkin, nature’y folk, lend me your antlers! Did you know I once actually played the part of Marc Antony? I was downright terrible at it. Not that I’m a good actor, besides, but that part in particular was way out of character.

Another out-of-character thing for me to do is not continue with what I had originally set out to do. PTR information is light this week, and while I would like to go back and finish talking about [hide]how to read your World of Log parses[/hide], I received a particularly interesting email that I thought was best to address right away.

I promise, promise that I will return to World of Log parses, because I know that you all love numbers as much as I do, right — but for this week, we’ll take a bit of break from all the deep, mathy stuff. Remember, if you have any questions that you would like to have answered, don’t hesitate to email me about them! I’m always happy to help, and if I can’t answer it in an email, you never know, it might just turn into a whole article. Wouldn’t that be nice?[hide]Continue reading Shifting Perspectives: Balance druids at lower gear levels[/hide]Filed under: [hide]Druid[/hide], [hide](Druid) Shifting Perspectives[/hide][hide]Shifting Perspectives: Balance druids at lower gear levels[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 07 Oct 2011 19:00:00 EST. Phat Loot Phriday: Westfall Chicken

«The girl’s family lives about 50 hides down. The matron recognized the description,» the druid said. «The locals says they heard a ruckus — their words, not mine — but didn’t think anything of it after all the Deathwing trouble here.»

«And they just … gave you the information?» Lolegolas asked. «They just told where these people were, didn’t wonder if you might be a spy?» The Blood Elf’s eyebrows were dubious — well, the Blood Elf was dubious; his eyebrows just displayed that emotion.

«I had my Alliance citizenship proof,» the Worgen said, gesturing at a small chicken next to him.

«A chicken?» Throgg asked.

«A [hide]Westfall chicken[/hide],» the druid said. «It’s an Alliance fowl.»

«Oh the Alliance is f … » Throgg started, but Lolegolas cut him off with a shout of «Don’t!»

The druid looked bemused. «Only Alliance can get this particular poultry, and only in Westfall. It’s quite a prestigious plucker. A clever clucker.»

Lolegolas kept his hand clasped tightly over the Orc’s mouth and gave the druid an angry look. «You’re doing this on purpose. And besides, the Undead have the chickens, too.»

WRUP: Come on, man, it’s the ’90s

Every week, just at the start of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider staff and ask them, «What are you playing this week?» — otherwise known as: [hide]WRUP[/hide]. Join us to see what we’re up to in and out of game, and catch us in the comments to let us know what you’re playing, too!

Going to BlizzCon? No? Why not? It’s the ’90s! Everyone’s going to conventions these days!

Sure, it’s in Southern California, and for many of you, that’s a long way from home. But man, this is the ’90s. They have planes now. And some of those planes even have air phones. You can hook up your 14.4k modem to one of those and connect to your favorite Warcraft 2 BBS, maybe play a little Legend of the Red Dragon from 20,000 feet. Why not? It’s the ’90s!

What’s that? You say it’s not the ’90s — it’s 2011? Well, of course it is! I know exactly what today is. See this Casio digital watch on my wrist? It has the day, week, month, and year on it. Everyone’s got one — everyone, that is, who’s living in the ’90s.

BlizzCon, the hottest event of the ’90s, is coming up in a mere two weeks. So today, in addition to the usual question of «What are you playing?» (Super Nintendo and Scattergories, obvi), I had our top-notch writers (many of whom have Tripod pages) answer a bonus question: «What terrific advice do you have for the go-go BlizzCon attending folks of the ’90s?»[hide]Continue reading WRUP: Come on, man, it’s the ’90s[/hide]Filed under: [hide]WoW Insider Business[/hide][hide]WRUP: Come on, man, it’s the ’90s[/hide] originally appeared on [hide]WoW Insider[/hide] on Fri, 07 Oct 2011 21:00:00 EST. Систему распределения наследуемых предметов когда-нибудь улучшат

Система распределения наследуемых предметов в MMORPG World of Warcraft будет улучшена, [hide]сообщает[/hide] компания Blizzard Entertainment.

MMORPG World of Warcraft: Cataclysm – экипировка появится в патче 4.3, [hide]сообщает[/hide] компания Blizzard Entertainment.

[hide][/hide] [hide][/hide] [hide][/hide]

[hide][/hide] [hide][/hide]

Breakfast Topic: How many rolls did it take to get your character right?

This [hide]Breakfast Topic[/hide] has been brought to you by [hide]Seed[/hide], the AOL guest writer program that brings [hide]your words[/hide] to WoW Insider’s pages.

A lot of players took a few swings to get their characters right. You might find that that first mage you rolled doesn’t really synch with your desire to stab an Ogre with that sword. That Human might have been a bit bland for a game where you could be a goat with face tentacles from space, or a walking slab of USDA-approved beef. I know several people who started playing at the bequest of their friends, made a character, leveled it for a while, only to get the message: «I’m sorry, but your friends are on another server!» It can be a bit jarring, especially if you’ve leveled into the 40s or 50s when a sizable time investment has been made, but perhaps not enough to justify paying for a server or faction transfer. Mistaken class choices can only be rerolled.

I lucked out. My friend who got me into WoW told me exactly which server and faction to start on before I downloaded the trial account. I picked a Human paladin because I loved paladins in Diablo 2 and started on my voyage. The ability to tank fed into my natural tendency to melee things, and sword and shield has always been my favorite aesthetic weapon choice. Others in my guild were less fortunate. Our mage, who played a paladin in beta, rolled a paladin on live servers, only to find that it was completely different than the class he fell in love with in the beta test. He traipsed through a rogue, priest, and hunter before he got around to maining his mage. Our Draenei enhance shaman started out as a Blood Elf paladin who didn’t make it past level 40.

How about you? Is your main your first toon?
